John Edwards wants us to sacrifice?

August 29th, 2007 Urban Conservative

So, earlier this morning Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards told a socialist labor group that he would ask us Americans to make a big sacrifice: give up our SUVs.  Yes indeed, he wants me to actually sell my beloved SUV to support the al-gore-global-warming-world-is-ending-doomsday-cause.  Yeah, ummmm…no thanks.  His comments make me wonder if he and his campaign team gets transported around various locations in a Prius, or maybe horse and buggy?

Speaking of sacrifice, I wonder if he’d be willing to move out of his 28,200 square foot home to conserve on his energy bill.

    If you like John Edward's house, then you should love Al Gore's even more. Hypocracy doesn't have a limit with these people.

    As for the SUV thing, it seems like John Edwards is getting a little power hungry there. Trying to make all Americans get rid of their beloved 4x4s? That's seems a little over board, the government shouldn't try to control everything.

    Besides, like what Brutal Mustang said, some people REALLY need SUVs or big huge trucks or whatever. I live in the mountains, and when it starts to snow it's impossible to reach my house without a big 4x4. Since there are also a few mines around here, people need powerful trucks and such for work. They're essencial tools, and they're a lot cheaper then what Edwards wants us all to have.

    I'm on a limited budget here! ;-;

    The fact is that John Edwards uses more electricity, natural gas, and gasoline than the rest of us posters combined. Just like Al Gore, whose electricity bills are more than 12 times higher than the average Nashville citizen. Imagine the costs of fueling his motorcades and private jets.

    I refuse to listen to Limousine and Leer Jet Liberals.
  • worlpeacereligion - whoa, maybe we should all join your world peace religion too...Just don't ask us to drink any koolaid.

    LMAO!
  • ROTFL!!! Worldpeacereligion, if a lot more feel as you do, I consider myself lucky to be a horse owner. I would be among the few who can get anywhere. Oh wait... horses produce lots of methane gas (like the cows), don't they? I bet they'd get banned too!
  • all cars should be banned; banning suv's is a step in the right direction
  • Joe, if global warming is indeed real, making all Americans give up their SUVs would probably have a ~minimal~ impact on the environment, while having a ~high~ impact on the economy as well as many American's way of living.

    First of all, energy conserving cars are expensive. Not everyone can afford them.

    Second of all, not every SUV owner lives in New York. Some of us live in parts of the country where we ~need~ an SUV or truck -just to get out of our driveways on a snowy day! Being stuck in your house all winter can be such a drag! Unless of course you have a house like John Edwards. (Big grin.)
  • That's not the point schmuck! The point is that he is asking us to make a sacrifice, yet he is not following his own advice. Now, say something that has value instead of being obscene.

    So all politicians are supposed to live in shacks? If you got rich would you not buy a bigger house? Some cars? How many SUV's does Edwards own? You don't know do you? Where does he get his power for that house from? You don't know do you? It could come from solar panels or a wind farm or methane from landfills or a hydro-electric plant. You don't know. So how about instead of blindly ridiculing him, do some research and find out exactly hypocritical he is being before bashing him on you little shitty website?
