You Decide: Who won the 2008 Republican Debate in New Hampshire?

January 4th, 2008 Urban Conservative

Republican LogoSo, who do you think won the 2008 ABC News/Facebook Republican Debate in New Hamspshire?  Did Huckabee take the cake? Did Romney’s charisma dominate the rest.  What about Ron?  Did he finally convince us conservatives that he is the right candidate (umm, I think not) to be President?  Whatever the case, let’s all hope and pray that Hillary is nominated. I would love to see her mopped up by the right side, literally.  Chime in and tell us who you think won the debate. Vote today!

  1. I'm an undecided conservative. I simply wasn't impressed with McCain. Anything close to immigration and he wilts. I think Romney stood up to the negativism well. Thompson started well but receded. Guliani was Guliani (I'm a New Yorker so I pretty much know who and what he is). Personally, I like Huckabee. As a candidate he doesn't inspire me. Paul (besides some of his economics) is a deluded nut job. For me, I've narrowed it between Thompson or Romney.

  2. Ron Paul answered all of his questions without any junk stuff. He is the most serious candidate as the rest should have been. This is the most important election ever. We are bankrupt as a country across the board, losing all kinds of freedoms & on the edge, or worse of being control by the NWO. People do your homework & discover that every single front runner is a NWO candidate. This is supposed to be a country for the people, by the people. If you don't pull your head out of the sand NOW you will not have another chance.
I have never been so involved or afraid what might happen if we don't wake up now.

You state that Ron Paul is a deluded nut job [besides some of his economics].
The wars, immigration, healthcare, NAFTA, all the poor government decisions are all hugh reason the dollar is in the gutter......this is economics.
Ron Paul is so far from being a "nut job". You are brain dead!

  4. Thompson and Romney both did exceptionally well. Thompson's strengths came in his policy positions and, not to be overlooked, his laid-back humor. Romney's positive performance arose "in the negative." In other words, he looked good mainly because McCain's barbs looked so horrible.

Ron Paul didn't win, but he looked better than usual. Guiliani "underwhelmed" me, while McCain, as mentioned above, looked angry, negative, and stale. I've saved Huckabee for last simply because I forgot--this oversight reflects his performance tonight. *yawn*

  5. To Joanne in New York...a debate...fun.

Odd. I thought I was shrewd. And if you're supposed to be the smarter one you're not showing it by attacking me. That certainly isn't going to persuade me (no chance as far as Paul goes).

For me, the priority is LIFE. It's about life. It's about the War on Terror. Yes there's maintaining economic vitality. That is this country's engine. And plenty other issues. There isn't one candidate out there that really assures me he has ALL of the conservative qualities. So I have to vote for the one that comes closest.

Paul is fundamentally wrong on Islamofacism. Joanne in New York, for someone who alludes to her brain power you omit this immense issue. For me that qualifies him as a joke for a presidential candidate. I like SOME of his libertarian views. But libertarians worship law and the constitution and seem to disregard commensense and reason. I worship God first and try to let the virtues He wants me to live by and the smarts he has given me (subject to debate according to you...haha) to make the best choice. Paul doesn't come close.

  8. Ron Paul hits it rite on the head.
And everyone else scrambles to put back the pieces of their broken fear machine!
If the majority of Americans believe the drivel coming out of these neo-con talking heads we are fucking doomed!

  9. I am more convinced than ever that a Rudy/Romney ticket is the way to go! Thompson looked like he has one foot in the grave. What does it take to make that guy look excited about something?? McCain is part of the establishment that everyone wants changed, so i say goodbye to him, thanks for your service to your country. Huckabee may be the evangelical christians little darling but he is completely unelectable on a national level and i predict he will fall like a rock from here on out. That only leaves Rudy/Romney and i think they would make as great team for change and strength.

  10. McCain came across as a grumpy old man. Ron Paul is too idealistic. He sounds like a throw back to the sixties "Why can't we all just love one another". Rudy sounded like a campaign ad for Ronald Reagan. Romney appeared very presidental. Huckabee was the only one who "got" the question about Obama. He seems to be very connected to middle class America. Huckabee or Romney.

  11. Jeeze, people. This president and nearly every candidate on the stage tries to make us believe we should be deathly afraid of terrorism (not even terrorist!).I am surprised to see so many people act so afraid of fear. What are we, still 8 years old?

I am not afraid of terrorist. Are you? If our bordes are strong, they cannot get in. If our airports are secure, we will not be highjacked. If we hold the moral high ground on dealing with enemy combatants, we will win peoples hearts and minds. If we invade people's countries preimptively, if we occupy a people's land, we will incur hatred. And the people's who's land we occupy believe in terrorism. Wake up.

This is crux of Ron Paul's arguements and they are supported by EVERY national intelligence agency. If you don't believe it, you've been watching too much FOX.

People, you really need to turn to alternative media sources. The national (state sponcered) media has been compromised.

  12. there will only be HOPE FOR AMERICA if Ron Paul is elected!!! The other NEOCONS running will drive us all towards globalism, war, recession, anarchy, and everything else that can go wrong with this country. It's time to stand for what we truly believe in, THE CONSTITUTION. Wake up people!

    January 6th, 2008 5:10 pm I LOVE RON PAUL
  13. Romney showed again that his executive leadership experience, his knowledge of the issues, and his vision for the future success of America make him the best candidate. People may disagree with his religious views; they may criticize him for comparing his past decisions to those of other candidates; and they may call him too polished. Nevertheless, none of those change the fact that he is the most qualified and best embodies true conservative values: economic, military, and social.

Heck, even McCain thought he had the right experience and integrity to govern and inspire the youth of America when he endorsed Mitt in 2002:

  14. Romney deflected the immature attacks by McCain all weekend. Sunday night by far was Romney's best performance. I think a Romney and General Petraus ticket would be ideal. Second choice, Romney/Thompson.

  15. I have liked Huckabee up to this point, but he seemed distracted and a little tired. Almost as tired as Thompson always seems to be. They both have run out of steam and seem to be just there to make a statement anymore. I have been disappointed by Romney before--he being polished, yet showing weaknesses in previous debates. But this last debate--these last two months even!--Romney made a SLAM DUNK! I figured Giuliani had it made before, but now he is in Romney's shadow! Paul's ideas are okay, but his presentation is borderline frightening. I feel the world is ending tomorrow when he opens his mouth. McCain lost a lot of respect tonight for me and just got squashed in the debates...and I think he knew it. Giuliani? Not inspiring, but confident.

  16. Romney won the New Hampshire debates and Thompson looked good. Romney handled the attacks, explained his positions, and looked presidential despite the McCain/Huckabee tag-team.

Huckabee looked outclassed by the rest of the field. He looked afraid or unable to discuss his record.

  17. ROMNEY BY FAR WON ON EVERY ISSUE, EVERY CATEGORY. YET, THE MEDIA ONLY TALKS UP A "MCCAIN SURGE" AND "HUCKABEE SURGE". WHY? TO BULLY NEW HAMPSHIRE VOTERS, WHO CLEARLY GRAVITATED TOWARD ROMNEY AFTER THE DEBATES AS PROVEN IN LUNTZ' FOCUS GROUPS, INTO VOTING FOR ANYONE BUT ROMNEY! THEY FIGURE, "IF VOTERS THINK EVERYONE ELSE IS VOTING FOR MCCAIN, THEY MAY CAST THEIR VOTE FOR MCCAIN".

ROMNEY IS THE LEFT-WING MEDIA'S MOST FEARED CANDIDATE. VOTERS MUST BE SMARTER THAN THAT!
