Debt Crisis Portends Liberalisms End

December 16th, 2009 Carter Clews

From the Washington Examiner:

With its most vigorous advocate in memory presiding in the White House and commanding Democratic majorities in Congress, its difficult to believe that the end of liberalism may be within sight. We base this suggestion not on a hunch or on wishful thinking, but on mathematics. The Petersen-Pew Commission on Budget Reform has produced a new report warning that [o]ver the past year alone, the public debt of the United States rose sharply from 41 to 53 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). Under reasonable assumptions, the debt is projected to grow steadily, reaching 85 percent of GDP by 2018, 100 percent by 2022, and 200 percent in 2038.

Long before the debt reaches such stratospheric levels, the commission warns, Fears of inflation and a prospective decline in the value of the dollar would cause investors to demand higher interest rates and shift out of U.S. Treasury securities. The excessive debt would also affect citizens in their everyday lives by harming the American standard of living through slower economic growth and dampening wages, and shrinking the governments ability to reduce taxes, invest, or provide a safety net.

In other words, within the lifetimes of the vast majority of living Americans, government as we have known it since the New Deal will become paralyzed, unable to deliver even basic services, let alone the myriad of entitlements that politicians had promised would last forever. Liberalism will owe its undoing to its blind faith that government could forever be the inexhaustible provider of ever more spending, more benefits and more prosperity, with nary a day of reckoning.

Is Anita Done?

November 11th, 2009 Cheeky Redhead

Anita Dunn once proved to be one of Obama’s greatest assets; now, she is one of his greatest missteps. As a campaign consultant she boasted boldly during a Jamaican interview that “Obama’s camp controlled the media, ALL the media” and still does todaywell, perhaps, aside from FOX News.

As a Democratic strategist, communications consultant, and a partner of Squier Knapp Dunn Communications, a Washington-based consulting firm, Anita Dunn has most recently been Obama/the White House’s communications chief.

Recently she quietly stepped down from her post and is attempting to tip-toe out of the administration.  No doubt, her past revelations will haunt her career in the future.

What is her future? She is no longer the White House Communications Chief; however she is still on staff as a “consultant.” How many of you are wondering if this has affected her financial status? You may also be wondering how I can say that her past “revelations” will continue to haunt her and I will happily explain by using her own words against her.

In an interview titled “The Buying of the Presidency” Anita Dunn stated the following about “who” actually makes money during presidential campaigns:

“Let’s be honest: The money goes to TV stations. The people who make a lot of money off of presidential campaigns are the television stations in targeted states. I’ll give you an example: Alaska Senate race 2004. At the beginning of the Senate race, it cost $25 a gross rating point to be on the air in Anchorage, Alaska. By October of 2004, it cost $500 a gross rating point, which is more, or comparable to the city of Philadelphia.”

So, when Anita Dunn bragged about “controlling ALL the media” during the election she also was well aware that manipulating the media was really about manipulating funds. Where does money for campaigns come from? I will let her tell you:

“A $2,300 check is a lot of money to me, but it is a drop in the bucket for a statewide competitive race. The amount of people in this country who can afford to write checks like that and who do write checks like that is relatively small, and they tend to be very wealthy. So the amount of time the candidates and elected officials have to spend talking to rich people — calling them to ask them to hold an event, calling them to ask them to raise money, to share their Rolodex, getting on the phone with 50 of their friends, calling them to ask them for money — skews their perspective. The amount of time it takes is so significant that: a) They have less time to go out and actually campaign with people who don’t have that kind of money, and b) they tend to get a skewed sense of what the issue concerns are.”

Wow. There is no confusion here about why a “consultant” is so valuable to a campaign or a candidate. They obviously need someone to remind them “why” they are actually running for office aside from begging for money. Just how much impact does a consultant have on a candidate’s platform? I will let her tell you herself:

“In terms of the role of the consultant theme, there are small races and there are big races. Most of them, at the end of the day, present you with the same fundamental challenges that I believe that any consultant in this business faces, which is working with a candidate and trying to get out of them what they want to do, why they want to hold an office, and then presenting that. And it is frustrating, as a consultant, when a candidate doesn’t know and expects that to be my job to tell them. … And I’ve worked with a lot of candidates who say, “What’s my message?”

Now I pose this question about how much our legislators, leaders, and basically all politicians really know or are able to communicate what they have determined as “their views” when they so readily pay others to build that “view or platform” for them. As voters we listen to candidates and seem to have the idea that what they say they are representing is genuine. We are being led down the proverbial path largely constructed by the ideals, agendas and special interests of those often faceless minions.

Who organizes and focuses these views for those in office? Largely it is those consultants who so recently have been named as “czars” who have very specific agendas and the ears of our leaders.

Anita Dunn has stepped down as the Communications Officer for the White House but is still on the payroll as a “consultant”. She still has the ear of our president and leaders, but without the accountability publicly demanded in an official capacity. During such financially difficult times in America you’d think that our president would be cutting excess out of the payroll instead of simply changing titles.

As Anita Dunn stepped down from her official capacity many of us thought “Good, we aren’t paying her to continue doing such a poor job of hiding the ineptness within political agendas, but that is simply a mirage. She is now a consultant again with an ear of our president so that he can continue to get his much-needed guidance.  Just how much does a consultant make? Let us look to Anita Dunn for an explanation:

“I’ll tell you, the people who by and large overpay for consultants are Senate, gubernatorial, and congressional campaigns in expensive media markets that do percentage-of-the-buy [typically, a 15 percent commission of the total advertising buy]. I mean, I can totally justify percentage-of-the-buy at a pretty high rate in a cheap state, where I’m going to end up producing 35 or 40 ads, have 18 debates I’ve got to be prepared [for], and just work a huge amount of time for a relatively small amount of money because TV is inexpensive. On the other hand, if you’re doing a New Jersey Senate race, you’re going to produce five ads for a $15 million media buy; you’re not working that hard.”

Okay, so those who overpay consultants are those in the top positions in our government. I can’t help but wonder how much she is now getting paid. She is creating the platform for candidates and then making money on how well her agenda is being pushed. This is not what American voters voted for; nor what they believe their money is actually being spent on.

Ultimately we have to consider if anyone in any political office is actually genuine. It sure explains why so many seem to falter when it comes to actually representing their constituents. Suddenly, we realize why so many did not bother to read the Obamacare initiative when it was presented. They were waiting for a consultant to explain it to them and let’s face it—based upon the expertise and demonstrated acumen of Anita Dunn, they are all in a pickle.

While Dunn bragged about controlling the media, the internet, and her candidates, Americans were looking for truth that no longer could be controlled by the media minions of Obama’s truth squad. No wonder the Obama camp was so ticked off at FOX and the internet.

Since the presidential campaign, I have had my personal email address barraged with requests to donate to Obama and the truth squad. It is astounding to what extent these people will go to in order to get you to fork over some cash for their cause. It is also shocking the lies they perpetuate for their own agenda. How do they get away with asking for money while not being actually connected to a candidate? Let’s ask Anita:

“There are a lot of people who feel that the amount of money that can be raised on the Internet, which is primarily ideological money, is also problematic because of what they see as the left-wing push. Bill Bradley was the first candidate to raise over a million dollars on the Internet. He was actually the candidate who went to the FEC [Federal Election Commission] in 1999 and said, “Can Internet donations be qualified for matching funds? “What generally happens for presidential campaigns, because you have multiple firms coming in. So, you create a separate corporation that has only one client, which is the campaign. But it’s a way to make sure that the money is made by that. Everything gets distributed. But what the Republicans do, which is more interesting, because they are much more aggressive under the law, is they actually in the past have set up for-profit companies that don’t make any money. They’re not 527s. But the Republicans take a very different attitude toward election law, because they actually don’t believe in it. By and large, our clients believe in this law.”

So you are propably thinking, “What?” Essentially all those emails from groups that are officially not connected to a candidate are raising money for who and for what? Where exactly is that money going to and what is it being spent on? Are their laws in place to somehow govern these funds or at least make them abide by any set of rules which represent any form of truth in spending? Nope. That is what we pay consultants for and we had no idea.

Are we to believe that the Democrats are not working as diligently as Anita Dunn leads us to believe that the Republicans are in that virtual gold mine of the internet? Are we to think Democrats are not as internet savvy and legally bound by law as Anita Dunn asserts merely by stating they “believe in this law” and so they are not benefiting from internet donations nearly as much as the Republicans? Well, I have yet to receive any emails from any Republican requesting a donation. I also haven’t gotten one from a Republican demanding I ignore and boycott FOX News. As a registered Independent I have gotten nothing from the Republicans in my email.

I am thinking perhaps the Democrats are as aggressive and controlling as FOX news asserts. They are not interested in truth. They are not interested in American and our needs. They are listening to the consultants whispering into their ear, “You know, I should really be paid more for doing your job.”

Janeane Garofalo calls teabaggers racist rednecks who hate black people”

April 17th, 2009 Urban Conservative

Interesting development last night on Countdown with Keith Olbermann; and I have to agree with Atlas Shrugs when she writes, “Garofalo is sick, mentally ill. And Olbermann agreeing with this insanity … the left position is, if you disagree with the plant in the White House, you are a racist”

Forgive my rant; but this deranged mass of human waste dressed as a human being, Garofalo sickens me with the rhetoric that comes out of her sub-human gargantuan swamp of a mouth. Anyone who takes this worthless parasite serious has got some serious problems. I sure am glad that no one even watches Olbermann anyway. Hes quite the idiot himself.

The Gay Mafia: Prop 8, the Mormon Church and now Obama

December 18th, 2008 Black Conservative

I’m black and I didn’t vote for Obama. I disagree with is politics and think that some his past acquaintances are shady, but whatever.  I give the man credit though, especially for his decision to have Rick Warren, the senior pastor of Saddleback Church in Southern California to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. Now he is getting heat from the gay community.  The president of Human Rights Campaign, Joe Solomonese, wrote to Obama Wednesday:

Your invitation to Reverend Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at your inauguration is a genuine blow to LGBT Americans. We feel a deep level of disrespect when one of architects and promoters of an anti-gay agenda is given the prominence and the pulpit of your historic nomination.

And so it begins folks. Over the next 6 months, more and more Obamamaniacs will soon realize that Obama is not as liberal as they want him to be (crossing my fingers and praying right now). I just dont get why the gay mafia is so outraged. From the beginning, Obama has said that he “believes marriage is between a man and woman”. Did you really think that he would have selected Jeremiah Wright or better yet, a transsexual preacher wearing camouflage pants and a Code Pink sweater to appease both sides?

I really can’t wait for the protesting to begin so I can laugh, point fingers and think how stupid they are. Are they going to call for his resignation like they did for those who voted for Proposition 8? Are they going to set fire to the White House?  Or maybe declare a Jihad against all Christians and the so called “anti-gay”, intolerant, right wing nut cases? This is insanity at it’s best but it sure is fun to watch.

One love to Urban for allowing me to post! Thanks kid.

Home Invasion Video: Mormons getting bullied

December 3rd, 2008 Urban Conservative

This blasphemous anti-Proposition 8 ad really is flat-out scaremongering religious bigotry against the Mormon Church.  While I don’t agree with their doctrine, Mormons are by far the nicest people I have ever met and they hold true to their beliefs.  If the LDS church had produced an ad similar to this showing a gay couple barging into someone’s house stealing, seducing their children or demanding to see whether they voted for or against prop 8, it would be about on this same level of stupidity. I appreciate that one might oppose the LDS church, but making Mormons out to be a fascist Gestapo is beyond reality.  Would they do this to the Muslim community because I can tell you that Muslims are 100% more strict when it comes to homosexuality; which is punishable by death in some countries?

A radical gay group disrupts Christian church service

November 12th, 2008 Urban Conservative

So much for tolerance. And these folks dont understand why they arent taken seriously. If you act like children you are treated like children. A demonstration like this will do nothing for their cause. It will only make them look like the spoiled little brats they are!

A radical gay rights organization – Bash Back is claiming the responsibility for a protest last Sunday at Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan.  Protesters infiltrated the church and surprised the congregation when they stood up during the service, threw fliers at churchgoers and shouted slogans such as Its OK to be gay, and Jesus was a homo, among other things.

It frustrates me that Christians are always labeled as intolerant on these issues. Gay couples have not been denied ANY civil rights whatsoever; they simply cannot call legal unions marriage. Marriage is a sacred institution to not only Christians but by many other religions in the world.  Labeling different types of relationships with different terms is not intolerant.

This meltdown by Bash Back was unconstitutional – a violation of the 1st amendment to use an act of aggression to disrupt the free assembly of others. What these protestors did was similar to how the Klu Klux Klan terrorized the black churches decades ago.

Of course, this outrage stems from the recent propositions in California (Proposition 8, 52% voted for Yes); Florida (Proposition 2, The Marriage Protection Amendment, 62% voted Yes); and Arizona (Proposition 2 Marriage Protection Amendment, 56% voted Yes). I understand their disappointment but they really should grow up!

The insanity doesn’t stop there.  The Mormon Church is now being targeted for their support of Prop 8, including arson.  And, a California Art Director from The California Music Theater in Sacramento, Scott Eckern, was pressured by gay groups to resign because of his personal beliefs about marriage. Seems to me that he is now a victim of intolerance and persecution. I am just waiting for the day when my employer asks me if I voted yes or no for Prop 8.  Where is the ACLU when you need them?

I wonder if Bash Back plans on protesting outside of a Mosque, since homosexuality is forbidden by Muslims. That would be interesting. Ahh, who knows … maybe they’re just mad at the Christians.

Paris Hilton for President!

August 6th, 2008 Conservative Cutie

It seems I have some competition for the cutest girl in politics- Paris Hilton, in association with Funny or Die, has released an ad in response to McCains Celebrity ad.

Its funny. Youre allowed to laugh.

But more importantly, I think this ad raises a few interesting points about this election cycle. Doesnt her proposed energy policy sound suspiciously like McCains? Why is it so much more palatable for Americans coming from the mouth of a hot blonde girl? You know, Im a hot blonde girl. I should start making YouTube videos Maybe we can get Paris to read all of McCains proposals from cue cards in a bikini! Then wed win for sure.

Second, this isnt necessarily pro-Obama. She doesnt mention him and doesnt say anything to favor him. Its meant to be a slight against McCain, but its Paris Hilton! Come on! No one takes this girl seriously and she knows it. But its gotta make you wonder- if the youth vote is supposed to be so important to this election and essentially Obamas ticket to the White House, I dont think it bodes well for him that its only August and theyre already laughing at the election. How seriously can my peers be taking this if our biggest source of news is The Daily Show and Paris Hilton is speaking for us?

Readers, discuss.

I only sleep with Democrats: a short film about a promiscuous democrat

July 18th, 2008 Urban Conservative

I have been meaning to write about this for quite some time; I have just now been able to spare a few minutes to speak my mind about these silly democrats; not all democrats – just the ultra liberal ones.

So the video is about some dorky white boy who meets a really hot chick in a night club and brings her home for some fun.  Before they get a chance to bump uglies, she finds an autographed picture of John McCain that says “Thanks for your support. She goes ballistic and says “Just like the last one and hysterically leaves his apartment. Then she bumps into a well dressed, sophisticated metro sexual cat in the street and he hands her a pin that says “I only sleep with democrats.  You can only assume that he brings her home and beats it up.

The video is actually really funny and well made but totally inaccurate. The girl in the video is quite the hottie. The problem is that most liberals I know resemble the likes of Cindy Sheehan and Rosie O’Donnell. Truthful, no! Action, well of course if thats the way democrats act after a few drinks.

Does the democrat party really want to associate themselves with bar-hopping-alcohol-drinking-promiscuous-one-night-stand-prostitutes?  I mean, I really don’t see a problem with that lifestyle at all and it reminds me of my college days when I was quite the play boy; but I am a grown man now with responsibilities, a family and two beautiful daughters.

Heres their mission statement:

TruthThroughAction.org brings independent filmmakers together to create edgy online film and video content to support the Democratic Party, its issues and candidates. By developing, funding, producing and distributing these high-quality projects, we’re working to ensure they win large, viral Internet audiences. Contribute today to help us produce more films.

Big ups to Jed Swartz who wrote about this over a month ago and said, “Somebody should tell these guys theres been a group of folks making film and video content to support the Democratic Party for years. Theyre called Hollywood.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Why this conservative is voting democrat in this year’s 2008 Presidential Election

June 23rd, 2008 Urban Conservative

I am clearly not taxed enough. I realize that there are some people in our society that just can’t help themselves; and it’s my responsibility and duty to take care of these people. I don’t give to charity – so forced redistribution of wealth works much better for me.

I am tired of the hassle of finding the right doctor for my medical needs. PPO or HMO? It’s just too confusing and takes too much time to figure all this out. With national healthcare, all doctors would provide equal care – and what would I care anyway since it would all be free, paid for by my fellow Americans?

Global warming is real, and it’s a consensus in the scientific community that it’s caused by human behavior. If course, John Coleman doesn’t believe so given his recent and ludicrous comments:

There is no significant man made global warming. There has not been any in the past, there is none now and there is no reason to fear any in the future. The climate of Earth is changing. It has always changed. But mankind’s activities have not overwhelmed or significantly modified the natural forces.

Who in the hell is this guy anyway? Just because he founded the Weather Channel doesn’t give him merit or credibility to make these absurd accusations. If Al Gore (who was the 2000 Democratic Presidential Candidate) said so, I believe it and you should to.

I am sick of Christians trying to force their religion on me through the government. I am tired of seeing “In God We Trust on all of currency and within our court system. It needs to be removed. The government should not endorse ANY religion and I don’t really care that our country was founded on Christian principles. We need to be accepting of ALL people from EVERY religion; and the way our government endorses Christianity offends most Americans, including me. I realize I am supposed to be tolerant of others but this has gone way too far.

I don’t want Roe Vs. Wade to be reversed and I don’t want the government to enforce laws that affect a womans right to choose, regardless of how far a long she is in her pregnancy. Who cares if she acted irresponsible with her sexual tendencies, it’s her body and she can do what she wants with it. And besides, fetuses are not “real people yet and don’t feel pain so their decisions don’t count.

I am against capital punishment. I think all convicted felons; regardless of the crime they committed can be rehabilitated. With the right care and therapy, they can assimilate back into society successfully, even pedophiles.

I believe marriage should be open to anyone and everyone; no restrictions, no laws, no nothing. We need to be tolerant of all people, regardless of their religion, sex, previous and/or current gender, sexual orientation, weight, appearance, etc. In fact, let’s make NAMBLA a government institution so we can regulate their behavior.

I think we should open the southern borders with open arms. The good people of Mexico and South America just want a better life for themselves. Besides, they do the work that Americans don’t want to do. If we were more compassionate to these people and stopped calling them “illegal aliens, then they wouldn’t commit violent crimes here in America.

Of course, back in 2004, Heather Mac Donald who writes in the City Journal stated that “Some of the most violent criminals at large today are illegal aliens but c’mon, really … who is she anyway and what college did she go to?

The Department of Homeland Security, estimates that between 300,000 to 450,000 illegal immigrants convicted of a crime are detained each year in our prison system; and that it would cost between $2.1 billion and $3.4 billion annually to deport every illegal immigrant convicted of a crime. Imagine the money we would save if just let them stay!

War is wrong and should be avoided at all costs. We should have never gone into Iraq, Vietnam, Korea; and WWII was a huge mistake. If we just treated other countries with mutual respect and consideration, we wouldn’t have to worry about terrorist attacks or nuclear war. Besides, there is no real proof that the holocaust actually occurred anyway, according to Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong-Il just want respect. Let’s give it to them and welcome their countries as world powers; and, heck if Chavez wants in, let’s bring him in the mix too. Besides, I am sure we can make significant progress if we just sit down with each country and have a genuine conversation. In fact, let’s bring them in all at once and have a World Power Summit at the UN.

Speaking of the UN, I trust the United Nations more than I do our own government, so let’s give them more power. I am almost positive that the U.S. is in their best interests anyway.

Let’s just leave Bin Laden alone and he will leave us alone; and the Democrats will do just that. Besides, terrorists hate Republican presidents.

We really need to stop supporting Israel. If we did, most if not all Middle Eastern countries would hold no ill regard against the US. I think they can fend for themselves anyway. Besides, they are the ones that are occupying the holy land of Palestine anyway so maybe they deserve what’s coming to them anyway.

We need to spend more money finding alternative fuel and energy resources. We can’t drill here in the US because we can’t disrupt the environment and wild life. That would be a crime; and we don’t want to take Middle Eastern resources either.

And lastly, I am voting Democrat across the board because:

We need a minority President. I don’t care what he stands for, his experience or what his policies are. Having a black president will help shape future race relations here in the U.S. and besides, Obama has such charisma and he is a great speaker too. His speeches inspire me and make me feel special. I have no doubt in my mind that he puts the Democratic Party way before our country, which is how it should be.

I know, some of the comments made above are pretty over the top. But so was this lame duck video created Charlie Steak and produced by SyntheticHuman Pictures. Consider this my rebuttal, without video of course.
