Change you can believe in?

November 20th, 2008 Urban Conservative

Okay, seriously.  Obama’s campaign team did a phenomenal job of positioning his administration as the “agents of change”.  They almost had me believing it for a second.  I don’t know, maybe it’s me but does this really look like change to you?

  • Tom Daschle – Health Secretary
  • Hillary Clinton – Secretary of State
  • Eric Holder – Attorney General
  • Rahm Emanuel - Obama’s chief of staff
  • Nancy Pelosi - Secretary of Defense (i made this one up!) : )

This is going to be both hilarious and dreadful.  Now comes the part where we see if the president will stick with what he said.  I'm sure he will.  *laughs*

It is the Clinton/Obama White House - which holds no small amount of irony - all things considered.  There was that one report a while back, Novak, I believe, he seemed to think that Clinton had something fairly damaging on Obama  (among other more recent yet anonymous sources), Which may explain a lot - surrounded by familiar faces, she will be a force to be reckoned with -  then again, perhaps he's just running to the center.

invasions?, their already gov-aclu assymetric civilian army, pre military  marched on the cities, as force demostration, the economy can be fixed just by saying no taxes to any, but...
they left the assymetric economic attaks, why?
to easier the ability for their assymetric orgs and gov personnel to tear down the country, they all the way helped terrorist for political power achieves, now, why not just let America die like Terry Chiavo?...
for the "legal excuse" to change you, just say you don't believe in other power than the power at the God's Constitution, and, start voicing to the authorities who had to stop that level of infiltration, maybe they weak up, because libs even seem to enjoy nobody does anything and wrongly believe also the people are defenseless, so that encourages them and the terrorists to do more "changing"...

Obamaworld
What follows is an excerpt from a letter, written in the year 2011.

As I said, Frank, the changes have been drastic and on that count, Obama spoke the truth. Change would come. Lucky for you that you chose to leave when you did. It has not been easy to adjust. They do sell “fit all sizes” turbans in the stores, but they are expensive so I make my own. Of course, they are terribly uncomfortable.

Heck, that is the least our problems. The freeways are backed up with camels that move at a snail’s pace. I am picked up every morning at 6:00 am by Ahmad’s Camel Service, and arrive at work at 9:00. Three hours on a camel’s back is not what I envisioned when I voted for Obama.

I have not gotten used to the daily prayer routine yet either. Often I am reprimanded for facing in the wrong direction.

You have no idea how insane all of this is. Yesterday, I met a woman. She seemed very nice. But I don’t know what she looks like. All of the women must cover their faces. Last week, three women were shot on the street for showing their faces. I didn’t realize it yesterday, but men are not allowed to speak with women on the street. I could have been arrested, or shot.

Two weeks ago, my friend was arrested for eating a cheeseburger. They have him under interrogation. They want to know who he got the cheeseburger from.

I work as a tax collector, going door to door for payments. If they don’t pay, I have to tape a red seal on the door. These people eventually disappear. I don’t know where they go.

Well, this is what we get for asking for change.

Obama, Democrats & American Exceptionalism

I am one of the 57 million Americans who voted for someone other than our President Elect.  While strongly disagreeing with John McCain on a wide variety of issues, I voted for him because I believe that the United States is beyond a doubt the greatest country that has ever existed.  American exceptionalism has resulted in the most advanced society humanity has ever produced... And it's not even close.  The unique combination of individual freedom, rule of law and Capitalism has resulted in more advances in a shorter period of time than has ever occurred.  From the Declaration of Independence to Manifest Destiny to the winning of two World Wars, the United States has always been something special.

Perhaps no better example can be found than Cyrus McCormick, the man who helped feed the world.  McCormick's 1931 invention of the mechanical reaper was the first major advance in farming in 5,000 years.  In the 1820s, using tools and techniques that had not significantly changed for five millennia a man could harvest approximately 2 acres per day.  Cyrus McCormick created the first effective mechanical reaper. Despite its great limitations, it more than doubled a man’s capacity to harvest grain and began a technological march that continues today.  To put McCormick's achievement in perspective, in 1831 ninety percent of the American population was somehow involved in farming to feed the country.  Today that number stands at less than 3%.  Not only does that 3% feed an America with a much larger population - 300 million vs. 15 million in McCormick's time, it feeds tens of millions of people around the world by exporting millions of tons of foodstuffs annually.  Although the impact on farming itself was substantial, the real impact of McCormick’s efforts was felt far beyond the fields. Millions of people across the country (and around the world) who had formerly been tied to the farm were now free to pursue their dreams elsewhere. From energy, medicine and manufacturing to retail, transportation and virtually every other area of our economy, the economic miracle that is the United States owes much to the man who freed the population to dream of the possibilities that lay beyond the amber fields.

And McCormick is just one of many.  Think of flight.  In 1903 the Wright Brothers first lifted off the ground in Kitty Hawk, NC.  Sixty six years later their aerial progeny were able to not only fly a man to the moon, but more importantly, bring Mr. Armstrong and friends home safely.  Think of computers.  In 1946 Thomas Watson's IBM introduced ENIAC, the world's first electronic general computer.  ENIAC could do 5,000 transactions per second, cost $500,000 and weighed in a 30 tons.  Today you can spend under $500 and get a Dell PC that can do millions of transactions per second, weighs under 3 lbs and can connect to computers around the world via the Pentagon created Internet.  It's no coincidence that almost every advance along that path found its genesis in Silicon Valley.  Think of telephones.  Alexander Graham Bell was issued the first telephone patent in 1874.  Ninety nine years later Martin Cooper set us on a march that has almost obviated the need for a landline phone in a universe where almost everyone has a mobile phone.  Add to that something like Apple's iPhone and you have at your fingertips a camera, GPS tracker, Internet device and computer all wrapped into one.

The list of those who embody American exceptionalism is almost endless:  George Eastman, Elisha Otis, Willis Carrier, Amadeo Giannini, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, John D. Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, Henry Kaiser, George S. Patton, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Ray Kroc, Malcom X, Sam Walton, Craig Venter, Oprah Winfry, Mark Andreessen, Shawn Fanning to name just a few.  (A brilliant book on the subject is Harold Evans' They Made America.)

It is not the DNA of Americans that makes us what we are.  Rather it is our culture, freedoms and belief that anyone who puts their mind to something can achieve success and prosper.  For the latter the election of Barack Obama as president should put the final stake in the coffin of the argument that any group of Americans needs a handout in order to succeed.  It is on those former measures however, where I feel we might be sitting in a spot not unlike Germany in 1933.  I'm not suggesting Mr. Obama and his party are Fascists in the Aryan sense.  Rather, with a small "f" in the sense of using the tools of government to quiet opposition and demand allegiance to the party line.  One needs look no further than the desire on the part of Democrats to revive "The Fairness Doctrine"  That is nothing more than a tool to silence the most effective conservative vehicle in the country, talk radio.  It would of course not apply to television and newspapers, obsequious bastions of liberal and progressive ideology.  Liberals cannot compete successfully in the free marketplace of ideas so they instead choose to use the power of government to quiet those who disagree with them.  On a much smaller scale, look what befell "Joe the Plumber" after having the audacity to question Mr. Obama's ideas...

Or it might be the shadows of Russia in 1917 that are being cast. Look at the Democrat's desire to use intimidation (Card Check) to unionize every workplace in the United States and in the long run destroy Capitalism. Why else would they want to remove an employee's ability to vote for or against unions in secret?  Add to that Mr. Obama's desire to "Spread the wealth around" and Jim Moran's disdain for "The simplistic notion that people who have wealth are entitled to keep it." and you quickly understand that the days of Capitalism and individual achievement are numbered under a Obama, Pelosi, Reid triumvirate. Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden eggs...

Finally, the Constitution as a shield for the protections of our rights and the limits on the power of government will be tatters after four years of an Obama presidency.  What else but chaos can we expect when the courts are filled with justices and judges who are specifically chosen based on this criteria:  We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom; the empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges. (link)  I was under the obviously false impression that the role of the judiciary was to ensure that the laws written by the legislature were indeed based on powers granted by the people via the Constitution and to ensure that such laws were enforced by the executive branch without regard to a citizen's race, religion, gender or national origin.

So the Change We Need turns out to be silencing the opposition, putting the control of industry in the hands of the proletariat, appropriating the wealth of successful citizens and destroying the rule of law...  Essentially destroying the very things that are the foundation of American exceptionalism.  One wonders what that is prescription for... Oh, and we must remember the decimation of the military (or with Barney Frank's 25% reduction, it might be called quarteration if that were a word) and the building of "a civilian national security force"?  Hmmmm..... I'm not sure, but I get this strange feeling that all of this seems somehow vaguely familiar...

ML and Vince.

It's not surprising that you both voted for someone other than the President-Elect. For you both to pass along such ridiculous nonsense left over from the campaign shows only that you both are hopelessly ignorant in so many you should be embarrassed to allow your face in public.  (No doubt this is the reason that you flounder about on the faceless internet where your  anonymity is safe that you might regurgitate such insanity.)

I have listened to your hair-brained leader, Irrational Limbaugh of man titty fame just beside himself - spitting into his megaphone, ever so indignant that he would be silenced now that Obama is due to take office.  How stupid are you all anyway?   Nobody gives a twit about the windbag behind the curtain.  He is much ado about nothing.   While he claims to have incredible influence- you saw the results of this during the primary regarding Hillary and the results of his predictions of riots in Denver at the Democratic convention.  He is nothing but a bad comedian with an audience of fools.  Anyone who believes anything Limburger says are seriously deficient in the education department.
ML and Vince, go hide in your basement and let rational educated people through the door.

Yup. Absolutely change.  Obama has selected honest, competent, educated individuals - all with a substantial background,  knowledge and experience in their respective (soon-to-be official) cabinet positions.
Contrast this with the Bush appointees.  Inept, inexperienced, crony's which proved to be the utter failures one would expect from individuals promoted far beyond their capabilities.
Big change.
Huge.

this is a conservative blog and apparently there are some who choose not to respect that fact!  change is not what obama is about when he appoints clinton followers.  what a joke.  however, i will say the thug he appointed for chief of staff is a change.  he is from the chicago crooked politician pool with a record of not reaching across party lines among other things.  you can't say he is honest because he is known in chicago as crooked.  he has wasted so much taxpayer money and now look at that state's budget--not so good.  so i can definitely say there will be change in some ways all right but it won't be good for this country.  ha!  if you want honest, you would not want most of the people obama choose.  they are just the same ole washington spin folks we have had with the exception of the mob guy chief of staff.  i don't think we want money going out of this country to fund anything more right now much less funding abortions overseas and that is what obama says he will now do.  so he proved that he lied about cutting spending and wasting our money.  ...but hey who is counting.  let's all swept that under the rug too.  who will notice?  i have to keep reminding myself that liberals think obama is honest!  too funny!

Tom Daschle – Health Secretary
Hillary Clinton – Secretary of State
Eric Holder – Attorney General
Rahm Emanuel - Obama’s chief of staff

would be unable to effect any change from what the previous 8 years have brought to America.   In almost every way, we were much better off 8 years ago than now!

Titus, you are repeating yourself- and it wasn't any good the first two times.  Take a breath or a bath or something and calm down.  Obama isn't even in office yet.  You are hyperventilating .  As usual.
And, as usual you are spouting off at the mouth without the facts.
Rahm Emanuel  was also a participant in the Clinton Administration.  Your use of the word "thug" in describing any individual from Chicago is indicative of your very, very limited capacity for reasoned thought and an insufferable inability to gather facts that are easily obtainable.  Your bitterness towards any individual on Obama's staff or cabinet that also worked in the Clinton administration is pretty small minded at best.  Just exactly what offended you so about the Clinton administration?  The peace? or the prosperity?
Obama has more experience in his little finger than you could muster in a lifetime.  Your jealously is evident.

during the clinton years, i didn't prosper but i have during the Bush years!  clinton missed the opportunity to kill bin laden and cut our intelligience so much that we didn't have translators or people infiltrated the middle east.  so don't tell me about the clintons.  we don't need the same ole, same ole and that is what we are getting.

David:  you can carry on healthy conversations and debate.  i may not agree with everything you say but at least we can discuss issues.  so you, my friend, are ok with me!  i don't have a problem with pointing out problems in my own party and am the first to admit their flaws!  you should know that by now.  but for some reason, others on your side have a hard time doing that.  pelosi, reed, frank and dodd are bad for this country, especially during a time we are in a crisis.  frank is a crook.  he testified back in july that there were no problems w/freddie mac and fannie mae;  however, all of the signs were there.  he criticized those who would dare question programs that he said were working.  he and his cronies need to be out of government but no one is complaining about it.  obama has problems since he has promised everyone everything just to get votes.  i am waiting to see how he handles this lobbyists and unions that supported him.  IF he is honest and follows through with his change promises, they will have to be left by the wayside.  he could be a big help right now in helping this crisis since he has the democrats right where he wants them.  but he is not doing anything.  with this economy, he cannot afford to wait but it looks like he is just sitting back and letting others take the blame.  this inaction is hurting this country but it will look good to those trying to blame the republicans and not both parties!

Loudmouth Titus,
Perhaps you are not aware of something, we have only one president at a time.  Obama is President-in-waiting.  There is nothing he CAN do until he is in office.  I don't have a clue what it is you think he should be doing that he is not already doing.

Your constant critique serves no useful purpose because you - as always- offer nothing but this.  When you go out looking for only one thing, that's all you'll ever find.  How pitiful are you!  You are so determined that Obama will do a poor job and so filled with bitterness that your neo-con run has come to an end  that it colours your every post.

Your comment that this is a conservative site and all those not of like mind should leave or shut up kind of puts in a nutshell what is wrong with the teeny tiny minds of ultra right wingnut bible-thumper, hatefilled, lie-spreading, fearmongering,  rapture-focused, "base" of the GOP.

Dora-- i guess your parents taught you to be disrepectful to others and be proud of it?  you are wrong on every count and your ignorance does show.  obama can work with his friends in the senate and congress to help the auto industry.  that IS within his reach!  however, he is choosing to lay low.  if he wants to really help in this time of crisis, he can.  waiting until January when we have the three auto companies going banrupt before then is not smart.  so say what you want and believe what you want but it is obvious you like to throw daggers at me to spread your hate!  i also think you are having trouble reading my blogs.  i will standby my point to be respectful of others.  everyone is entitled to their opinions and that is good but nastiness gets you no where!

You don't go against your own party just for the sake of going against your own party.  When McCain went against his own party, with what side did he side?  Duh.  He picked the side he felt was correct.  And what side was that again?  Hmmm?

You are the one who yelled at me in post #28.  Respect?  hmmm.  Oh, that's right, you are from the do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do political party.

It seems that to you everyone is entitled to your opinion....only.

You all have your panties in a wad over the nonsense that comes from the mouths of Irrational Limbaugh and the like.  Nonsense with absolutely no basis in fact.

The eyes of the world are on Obama.  He is inheriting a huge mess- largely brought about by your hero and his followers.  What you need to do is to calm down and say thank-you that someone is there to clean up the unforgivable mess left by Bush and his horribly inept crony's.

John  38:
<<
Perhaps you could help Obama identify overt racism?  He apparently missed it while sitting in the pews of Rev. Wright's congregation. Funny how it isn't racism if it comes from the left. >>
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, racism is a belief or ideology that all members of each racial group possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another racial group or racial groups.

-John, at what point did Rev. Wright
point out in his sermon that the Black, Native American, or Asian Races were superior to the Caucasian Race?  He merely pointed out with righteous indignation how the Caucasian Race had in fact allowed it's prejudicial beliefs to govern actions that were prejudiced against the 1st three races i mentioned in the context of U.S. History.....
So what do i need to help Obama with again?
<<And I might have to agree with your post in 25.  Why are Conservatives so opposed to Liberals "Pro-Choicing" themselves out of the evolutionary gene pool?>>
-Hitler&Stalin weren't exactly liberals....but that is a good point i made...

David--in one interview he did around july, Frank assured the public that freddie mac and fannie mae were fine.  i can't remember the exact words but he indicated that there were no worries and they were doing well.  as a result, investors invested and subsequently lost millions of dollars.  normally i would say that there is a big risk to any investment.  however, he later on disputed that he had made that positive statement.  i saw both interviews and it was clear that he mislead the american people.  he testified in july that there were no issues with these companies and you should not fix something that was not broken.  now there were a lot of folks questioning the practices and performance of these companies and he blew them off.  later he said he knew there were issues.  now i have a problem with a man in his position lying to the public.  however, his cronies pelosi, reid and dodd are protecting him.

i predicted some of the actions of obama a long while back on the UC blogs.  obama started back peddling the day after the election.  now the very people he put in charge of the economy are just using economics 101 and telling him that you can't raise taxes on anyone including companies in a bad economy because it stifles growth.  elementary, duh!  this is what i've said all along.  now the economy did not worsen within just one day of his being elected.  he was all rhetoric like i said before and this proves it beyond a shaddow of a doubt.  i and others knew the economy would continue on a downward spiral and obama knew this too!  so now obama will not raise taxes and may or may not let the tax cuts expire.  he set himself up the day after the election to go against what he campaigned on for almost two years and is now going down McCain's economic path, which is the right approach.  again i predicted this in my blogs!  some people that i know voted for him because of change!  ha!  too funny!  he has gone back on his word to "redistribute the wealth around" and he is not even in office yet!  some liberals liked the idea of "sticking it to the rich" and thought people who are successful should pay all of the taxes or their "fair" share, whatever that means.  of course, those folks don't want to define what they themselves would be willing to pay for services that the government provides.  obama doesn't have anyone "new" in his cabinet.  so where does the change come from?  now as a proud republican, i can say that i don't mind some of the members and their philosophies because they are like mine (way on the right!).  i just find it puzzling that liberals can't see this and are not angry that they have been duped.  however, i think that since most of them only care about getting a check in the mail and they know that will probably still happen, so i guess nothing else counts.  that is the selfish world those of us who actually care about the US live in!  i know obama is the worst liar i've come across because he was so transparent throughout his whole campaign.  i am now laughing at those liberals who actually still think the change they wanted and the change obama talked about during his campaign are going to actually happen.  so i'll be willing to bet a lot of folks think that obama's "great" leadership will be the answer to pull us through.  ha!  now all politicians lie but this is ridiculous!  it is easy to assemble folks that have done this before in some capacity, i.e, the clinton administration.  they are already in washington and are the same ole, same ole.  i don't think obama would know how to pull his own team together.  but hey, if using the same ole folks in washington will continue to work to get us out of this mess......... but it is definitely not the change he spoke about.  however, let's not forget that pelosi, reid, dodd and frank are still there!  in addition, i think most liberals do not realize he has really promised them the moon and they fell for it!  i for one would be glad to see this economy sustain itself and get out from under the government again one of these days.  i don't like everything President Bush has done but i will give him credit for all of the good he has done especially on working to help get this economy started again.  however, when the economy does recover, the liberals will ensure President Bush's name will not be attributed to its success.

Competence at the top is the breathtaking change we've seen already.  If Barack tapped a bunch of no names, you'd be saying who are these people or something about "naive" or "untested" or "dangerous" because that's what you said about Barack.  Barack is a leader.  He is putting experienced competent people in important positions because that's what leaders do.  There won't be any Mike Brown's at FEMA or Alberto Gonzalez's at Justice or Harriet Miers' for the Supreme Court.  Competence, contemplation, leadership and superior intelligence at the top are all drastic changes from the last eight years.  No shots at Bush here (let's let him fade away) just a different and improved approach to governing in my opinion.

obama's actions show there is no real change and the campaign promises he made to the left have mostly been broken.  that is not leadership!  he made a mockery of the left because they believed that he would follow through with his rhetoric.  his back pedalling concerning his economic policy has proven who he is.  nothing changed from election day to the day after and most of us including those on capitol hill knew the economy would get worse before it would get better and obama continued to campaign on taxing the rich, blah, blah, blah.  it is sounds good to the uneducated so they voted for him.  of course, when someone promises handouts that doesn't hurt either.  if growing the economy from the bottom up theory worked, obama would raise taxes on the so-called rich including businesses in January as he promised.  does someone smell a rat besides me?  i knew this would happen and just sat back and watched.  one of his new team members (can't remember the name right off) testified for deregulation, which is something the left has been harping about.  so what is this?  the pot calling the kettle black?  he has appointed most of the folks who are the same ole, same ole, which is what he said he would not do.  if he wants to use the term continuity as an excuse, that is fine by me but i know better.  however, that is not what he talked about to get him elected.  as i have said before, i predicted on these blogs that he would back pedal because his economic plans would not work in a bad economy.  for those on these blogs who ridiculed me then, i say I WAS RIGHT!

Good grief, Titus-  you are soooooo anxious for Obama to be all that you prayed he was.  Don't hold your breath.  Obama is doing exactly what he had said- bipartisan cabinet- people actually qualified for the job (now there's a change right there!!! )  - when asked over and over during the campaign what programs he would drop considering the current economic problems- he said that he was fully aware that addressing the economy was priority #1- which he is addressing.  (note the stock market each day he has held a press conference- that would be up, up, and up.)
Current polls state that the American people have a favorability towards Obama for steps he has taken and the confidence factor @60%  - and he has yet to take the oath.
Just take it easy, Titus.  You are going to hurt yourself.

Nope, i'm right on target i'm afraid.  he knew he was not going to be able to fulfill his promises of raising taxes on the wealthy and companies because it would destroy this economy.  so he is following McCain's lead.  he backed down from that the day after the election and now it has come out that he would hold out and let the tax cuts expire in a few years.  however, he made promises just to get votes but hey........i'm glad he is not that stupid.  maybe he would rather lie just to get votes and then backslide.  the reason the markets are up is because he has chosen people that will not allow obama's dumb economic policies from his campaign to interfere with what is right for this country.  as someone said on the blog earlier, there are limited folks qualified on the left except for former clinton folks.  i don't know about that but it stands to reason i guess.  if the market thought obama's economic plan would be carried out, there would be no confidence.  right now i'm not complaining as much about his choices because they will hopefully stifle his bad policy theories.  either way he is definitely showing a lot of his campaign was rhetoric and that is a testimony to his character.

Billary isn't constitutionally able to take the position...

I don't know why she would anyway... carrying water for the "One" would only serve to demean her already gathered power.

I agree there is no change here... and I'll explain why...

it all came out when Biden was chosen. the shade was raised... the Libs have been soundly defeated in the last two presidential contests and they needed a sure thing. this was a coordinated effort by congressional democrats... this was all decided in the back rooms of congress, that they would put up Obama and he would get donors from each of the senators and congressmen that are in control. there is no other explanation for the Biden pick... Kerry was broken, Gore a disconnect from the main structure of democrat power, Biden has run what? 4 times? been a senator for 30 years? he has lots of favors to call in... and with Ried and Pelosi in charge... please...

Obama's minority status and new comer style, combined with his extreme liberal standings meant he would gather votes from every conceivable democrat demographic. that coupled with Bush's popularity and controversial nature meant it would be theirs. now we all will see what full democratic control of government really is. maybe they're right and they know how to pull this thing together... maybe they will lead us to new heights... maybe pigs will fly and I'll be out with Paris Hilton on TMZ tomorrow...

ok my rant is done... it's nice to meet everyone... I hate to come in swinging, but hey that's just me.

First, Secretary of State is not "appointed"- they are recommended and confirmed or denied by Congress.
So, that sort of puts an ice cube in your coffee, I should think.
Secondly, for Titus- Obama said- as recently as yesterday, concerning the "Bush tax cuts"- whichever is more effective and time relative- he will either allow them to expire, or have policy written to address this - either way, they will happen.  Hand out another round of ice cubes.
Try to keep up, Titus. Your bloviating is tiresome.

what I'm saying is; why would congress and all these contributors embrace the "Change" guy? that means bad news for them. and then he picks the 30 year Senator as running mate? no... that's "back scratching", I think Biden took Obama in early and this was decided.... the congress never liked the Clintons and the Clinton faction of the democrat party was going to run... everyone knew that and this deal was beside that.

we'll see, if he truly starts trimming all their fat... if he goes against old washington... but he won't... I see all the pet projects of upper echelon liberals will be coming down the pipe and we'll be seeing a whole lot of fillabustering...

now don't get me wrong, I wasn't meaning there was some big secrect society meeting... I'm saying this is a congressional seizure of power and will be a show of their will, not the public's.

-So then why is Obama picking Clintonites for cabinet positions if the democrat leadership didn't like the Clintons?
<<I wasn't meaning there was some big secrect society meeting... I'm saying this is a congressional seizure of power and will be a show of their will, not the public's.>>
-hummmm.  I could be wrong, but i never saw Pelosi or Reid as leaders
(.....in the real sense of the word).  And i'll even go so far as to say they are inept as leaders.
The way i see things, is that Obama is making a real attempt to lead......we shall see.
Oh, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Dora:  you can live in your world all you want and ignore the facts.  i said in my blogs the tax cuts would expire.  before you respond to my blogs, you need to read them and stop being so insulting.  it's not my fault you are wrong!  i guess you have forgotten all of the promises obama made.  during his campaign he said he would tax the corporations and the rich as they were before the tax cuts were implemented.  he didn't say he would wait and let them expire.  so he lied and there is a good reason for it.  if he implemented his economic plan, this country would fail and his economic advisors are telling him that.  this is easy to see and has been pointed out by the liberal news that you guys love so much.  he knew that his plan would fail before he was elected and that is why he backed down from his rhetoric the day after he was elected and has continued down that path.  now i would have loved to have been wrong because his policies are bad for our country.  that is elementary business 101.  he said anything to get votes and has offered to send out checks to those who don't pay taxes.  if it is up to him welfare will at least double.  whoohooo!  that does not encourage people to work but it does guarantee that everyone's taxes will be raised!  so for now he has gone more to the common sense approach and there are people in his cabinet that believe in low taxes for everyone unless you want to stifle this economy further.  this has happened before he took office and shows he does not understand economics.  he will now back down from removing our soldiers out in 16 months and follow the new plan in place.  with pelosi, reid, dodd and frank still in washington this country will not thrive as much as it could even after this crisis is over with.  now i can't wait to see how you guys spin the new job creation that obama is talking about.  now it is common sense that those jobs are mostly low wage jobs.  so how many illegal aliens are going to hold those jobs?  there are a lot of them holding construction jobs now and obama does not want to close the borders and tightly regulate this.  where will the jobs be for americans?  that is what i would like to know.  he has promised to create jobs by the year 2011 i think.  who cares!  we need jobs now!  obama is an idiot!

Kaptain Amerika -- you are right!  now obama is not known for pulling rabbits out of his hat.  he has never gone against his own party and won't now.  he may try to push them a little but in the end he will do what he has always done--go along with them!  a lot of his campaign contributions were from lobbyists and they expect favors.  he has also got to help the unions because they supported him.  of course, we don't know where a good portion of his campaign money came from because of the system he used.  McCain's camp had a transparent system where the contributions could be traced.  obama's system was deliberately set up so that they could not be traced.  shhhhh!  don't tell the liberals.  they won't hear the truth anyway because they are asleep!

We are completely behind you on this assessment. I guess it's no wonder why Hilary and Bill seem so comfortable with this whole thing... it's all of their old friends!

Favor.  You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. They put him in office. It's payback time now.  This thing with the auto bailout. They put O in office. Don't think for one minute, he won't return the favor.

It's all an illusion right now.  Time will tell, very soon.

Titus, Thank you!  Good to be back.  This was my busiest time of the year for sales in our online store.   Plus the new grand baby! He's so cute!  Getting lots of love!

Yes, January is a sad month in more way than one. Today, my property is being sold on auction by the county.  Not a tax issue.  I am a statistic of the economic meltdown and mortgage crisis.

I will survive, could be worse! LOL

2bluestarmom--

Wow!  I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your home.  However, it sounds like you are doing ok despite terrible circumstances.  I know that grandbaby makes you smile!  You will definitely be in my prayers.

2bluestarmom--
sorry to hear of your property, really.  Been through all that to, and for what it's worth, it can be character building.
