Other than the fact that I am a conservative and I listen to Snoop at times, nothing at all. Most of the time, I listen to hip hop when I am at the gym trying to get my work out on or when I go for a run around my neighborhood. There is something about hip hop that gets me motivated to work out harder. In fact, I grew up on the other side of the train tracks and hip hop was a huge part of my culture. The point of this post (and believe me, there is a point) is to dismantle the perception that all conservatives resemble what is currently in the White House today. No offense to the leadership in the White House, but can you imagine New Gingrich or Condi Rice listening to Snoop while on the treadmill?
Below is an excerpt from an interview on November 11, 2022 with the Press Association and Elton John.
He said there was a lack of religious leadership, particularly in world politics, and complained that people do not take to the streets to protest any more.
Some of my very good friends and family members are liberal and we get along just fine, assuming we don’t talk about politics or religion. In fact, I really admire them for their sincere and unwavering belief system (regardless of how insane those beliefs may be). On the other hand, my conservative friends think they are uninformed, hard-headed and even unreasonable. And, in many cases, depending on the particular individual all three may be true.
I’m irritated. I was just on Drudge and saw all the newspaper headlines in Europe celebrating the results of OUR midterm election and the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld. What the hell do they care? We don’t give a damn about their backwards political system, much less the people that live there. We don’t care who the prime minister of the UK is (no offense Tony) or the President of France. They are so out of touch with reality; and have such short memory spans. They seem to forget that if it wasn’t for the US, they would all be speaking German. I do hate to bring up 911 because I think it is overused in today’s media; but if they were on the receiving end of a terrorist attack with the same magnitude of 911, they would have a much different attitude about the US, the war, etc.
The other day I was talking with one of my colleagues at work and politics entered the conversation for the first time. He asked me who I was voting for during the midterm elections. After my in-depth analysis and response, he looked at me in amazement and said, “but, (long pause) I thought all conservatives were white”. What an idiot, I thought to myself. I felt like bitch slapping some sense into him, but I needed to maintain our working relationship so I trashed that idea! This conversation motivated me to point some prominent non-white conservatives, some of which you might have heard of and others maybe not. It amazes me how uninformed many people are, especially those in the San Francisco Bay Area.
