Enemy of the Week, Hugo Chavez

January 22nd, 2007

If you watch Hannitys America on Sunday nights, you will know that he has a segment called Enemy of the Week and Great American of the Week; where he identifies two different people in the news and highlights the reasons why they made his weekly list. I decided tonight that I want to do something similar where I will identify just an Enemy of the Week; mainly because this will force me to write in my blog at least once a week. Plus, its easier for me to write about people I dislike than it is people I like and/or admire.

Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela is on the top of my list. Ever since he dissed President Bush and the U.S. a few months at the pitiful United Nations, I have had it out for this clown of a leader. Just a few days ago during his weekly radio and television broadcast, he told U.S. officials to Go to hell! for what he called unacceptable meddling in Venezuelas affairs. He defended his administrations effort to establish a socialist model and rejected U.S. concerns over a measure to grant him broad lawmaking powers, saying: Go to hell, gringos! Go home!

He also made some heinous comments insinuating that the US had something to do with the hanging of Saddam Hussein.

I have to agree with The Conservative Elitist comment that the US should reverse their policy of not assassinating foreign leaders; and start with Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Castro and then last but not least Kim Jong il. The fact of the matter is that all these men are dangerous; not only to the US, and to all free nations, but even to their own people. The world would be a much better place if these men were no longer breathing.

Go ahead; call me a right-wing war monger. Ive been called worse. If you think my belief system is that extreme, what are your thoughts on Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Castro and Kim Jong il? Are they peace loving, Nobel Prize winning pacifists?

I wouldn't be suprised to find a liberal who thinks you are more dangerous than these men. After all, Clinton did support awarding Yasser Arafat the Nobel Peace Prize, dispite his notoriety as a "Master Terrorist".

  2. Michael Says:

Jaime - you are right, I bet that most liberals would think I am more dangerous. And, maybe if I was strapping bombs to my back, killing innocent people in the name of Allah, I would agree.

  3. Jason Says:

If you close your eyes and listed to Pelosi and Chavez with their voices disguised, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Hugo needs to accidentally fall down some stairs and fall asleep forever.

  4. Yavor Says:

    Haa Haa Haaa-
There we have another conservative Luck Pierre circle starting again. "Whatever you think, that's what I think".

Michael, you can't be more dangerous than those people, you aren't smart enough. You pander to the sub-genius whup-ass dementos -who all slap you on the back here. This is the level of discourse we are dealing with - Low. Dittos Dude. NASCAR RULES!

Chavez? Forget Chavez. The only reason we are hurt by his comments is that he has what we want - Oil. The phenomenon we are watching is that when the top dog starts to limp, the other dogs start to circle. This happens to all of the world's top civilizations/countries. Usually, #2 gets together with a group of #3's and takes down the #1. The chess pieces are lining up for just this.

As is typical, the bodacious flag-wavers and old ruling guard of the #1 start to swing their arms as fast and hard as they can. They see enemies wherever they look...especially internal. They do the work of the #2 & #3's for them. They fracture and destroy their own civilization from within - from fear. This is exactly what is happening with the Repubs. Ted Kennedy, Polosi, Jane Fonda...a 250 lb guy with a baseball cap on (M. Moore)..these are the demons we must spend all our time throwing rocks at. This game to pit the halves of the nation against each other - so as to divide and conquer- Puts us at great vulnerability in the world arena. While we throw mudballs at each other, the world is eating our lunch. Even with the best leadership available, we would still be facing a world situation which at best will require us to step back from world dominance and into the would of previous #1's like the UK.

If we don't have the luck to step down gracefully, we could face tremendously damaging consequences. This natural process of the ebb and flow of world leaders is futile to resist. Of course we protest, but we need to be kung-fu fighters -not boxers. We need intelligent, deft moves in these dangerous waters. Instead, we are feeding into the terrorists plans perfectly. We react bluntly and brashly. We confirm the worst perceptions of us on the world stage. You can say you don't care. You can say the UN is BS. You can sleep under an American Flag blanket, but the giant march of history will pave you over into oblivion if you continue to ignore it's lessons.

    Face this:

China will surpass the GNP of the US within a decade at the current rate
The Eruo is burying the dollar internationally. The bet is on Europe.
The national debt of the US is now equal to the entire country's net worth
Investment houses in the US now suggest investing in France
India is about to take on China as the world's manufacturing center
    Brasil is off imported oil.
Kellog, Brown and Root is building internment camps all over the US

Ahh, what's the use? The momentum of the conservative revolution in this country is so strong that it will exceed even it's own plans and expectations.
The balance of power is so lop-sided that even the Democratic congress won't be able to level the boat. You can scream and yell and blow up sand all you want. We are going down and you are the guys who precipitated our demise. It is even too late to hand the flaming bag of poop to your enemies in congress. You wanted it all? You got it all - including the blame for what's coming right around the corner.

Yavor - thanks for your novel. Judging from your previous posts, you have a ton of time on your hands to pick apart my blog, it’s obvious you have a great vocabulary; and you must be a prophet sent from God to warn us about the demise of the US. Other than that, I have NO clue to what your point is, but then again, I must not be smart enough to extract your main idea……

  6. Yavor Says:

Yup, got all day to do my thing. Another young leisure-class slacker in the land of plenty.
Thanks for being respectful of my diatribes. Saying you don't understand what I'm saying is an interesting tactic. Reminds me of my sister's one-liner at parties "I'm sorry, I complete lost interest in what you were saying".

I'm a patriot who is tired of us bashing each other over our heads. If we don't find consensus internally soon, the international show will go on without us. The boat is leaving and we are still fighting on the shore.

The repubs have won. Forget the congress. The money, means of production and spirit of America is solidly republican...down to the school boards.
Lewis Powell's plan worked - and like Nixon said "We will bring this country so far to the right- you won't even recognize it". The Left's leaders are gone. Shot, dis-credited..etc. Is Michael Moore actually that frightening? Who is left? Nobody of consequence. Even Bill Clinton didn't have the huevos to face-down the repub machine.

It is time to close ranks internally. We need to give the big golden wrestling belt to the republicans and move on. The problems facing us require deft and subtle maneuvers. It is going to take the best we can muster AND a good bit of luck.

Our American experiment is weather- when you mix the people of earth together, and give them democracy, can they survive and prosper? If we fail at this, it is a terrible indictment of humanity itself. This is our responsibility and each of us must bear our task in it. The predicament we are in now vis a' vis the middle-east, energy and the international economy has nothing to do with the prevalence of liberal thought in our country (think I'll just walk down to the bake sale at the Atheist center on the corner).

The forces which have propelled us into this situation are complex and without emotion. If we continue to digress into this ideological morass inside our borders, we will do our enemies work for them. It is up to us to put down our rocks and join forces - to try to save our country and our flame of democracy. I'm ready to do that, and I hope the American people are.

  7. Jaimie Lee Says:

    Yavor,

Despite your claim of being ready to put down your rocks and join forces, I haven't seen any attempt at collaboration in all of your mental masturbation. Yeah, I'm sorry, but it had to be said. You are posting here to make yourself feel good. It's simple verbal stimulation. You are not on this blog looking for solutions, just another way to point your finger (and it looks to me like the middle finger) at people who don't agree with you. In all of your ramblings, the one coherent comment I got was that you want to "join forces", yet scattered throughout your commentary are insults. How are you planning on crossing a bridge that you keep burning?

Our gracious host isn't the only one who can't understand you. Why do you think there is such a paltry response to your many posts? Perhaps we are all having a problem understanding you because of your apparent difficulty using proper punctuation. It may also help us if you can pare down your responses to one or two ideas at the most. A comment was made on this site that conservatives have a problem with liberals because they are educated, however, given your writings and their lack of organization, you do not appear to have taken any basic college level english courses.

  8. Yavor Says:

    Jaimie Lee-

Glad I got a rise out of you.

I use liberties in my construction and use of the language so as to increase the effectiveness of my communication. It makes it more...colloquial. Oh, you get my message. The reason I don't get more responses is that nobody wants to get in my cross-hairs. The average educational level of readers of this blog is..well..average. I wield a rather large intellectual axe.

Sure, my diatribes are full of insults. I'm a liberal. We've lost this round. I'm almost as angry as your average conservative. The only problem with liberals is "they can't shoot straight". I'm not one of those liberals. I'm willing to use every tool used by the right. Hell, they stole most of their tools from the Hippies. What really matters is winning. In the end, nobody remembers how you won, just that you did. The masses follow the cultural leaders and the winning team. They hide, cloaked in the flag of the prevailing ideology because they themselves can't develop their own set of ethics and morals.
They don't have the capacity. This fact has been exploited perfectly by the right. Every truck driver you meet is a staunch republican.

As well, you are right, I am just discharging anger over our current situation.
I, at least, offer an olive branch. This is something you will never find coming from the ever gloating lackies on this site. What use is there for you'all to preach to the choir? If your interest was actually to save our country, you would invite dissenting discourse and try to find common ground.

You really want to make a difference? Be the blog that finds the new way.
This "third way" will be the philosophy that pulls us out of the duality tail-spin. Just as building bigger bombs and drilling in Anwar will never solve our current set of problems, preserving wildlife habitat and gay marriage won't do it either. We are facing major international challenges.

Who is going to put down the rocks first? Normally, the victor has the gracious advantage to do it first, as they have garnered all the spoils and advantage. The repubs have the soul of this country in their hand. If the liberals offer the olive branch, the right will just take it as a sign of weakness and use it to destroy them. When will enough be enough? Christianity is not under attack, it is in total control. Liberal is a four letter word now. You win. It's over.

Anyhow, I'll leave you to each other again. You can just go on slaping each other on the back. "I agree", "No, I agree more". It can't be very satisfying.

Best of luck. Enjoy your moment of victory, as it will be short-lived.

  9. Michael Says:

Yavor - you are absolutely right when you say "The average educational level of readers of this blog is..well..average." In fact, 90% of the readers of this blog are...well....liberals.

Also, if you are walking down the street and two totally random people (who don't know each other) come up to you and tell you that you have something on the bottom of your shoes, well…you probably do have something on the bottom of your shoes. You get my point?

  10. Jaimie Lee Says:

    Yavor,

I haven't the time to respond to each of your points, but one did catch my eye. You said, "The masses follow the cultural leaders and the winning team. They hide, cloaked in the flag of the prevailing ideology because they themselves can't develop their own set of ethics and morals."

I would put to you that nobody can develop their own set of ethics and morals. All they can do is accept or reject the standing moral code. People want to think that right is whatever you think is acceptable and wrong is whatever is not acceptable, and even those guidelines are subject to change depending on the circumstances. Not so, my friend.

Let me put it to you this way. We didn't create the laws of physics. We did not develop the laws of biology. There is not a single law that humans developed. We have only figured them out and named them. But imagine that somebody decided that the law of gravity didn't exist. They didn't like it, so they would live their lives as if it never existed. As much as that person could say, "Gravity does not exist," they would find only injury when they tried to operate outside of the law of gravity. If we did not create any "laws" that govern the physical world, then why do we assume that we can create the "laws" that govern the relational realm? The fact is things run smoothly when people recognize and respond to the standing moral code, and when they don't, people and their relationships get hurt.

See all the people getting hurt in this mornings newspaper? Take a wild guess why it all happened. You know, the ten commandments are pretty simple and I don't understand the big problem with them. Don't desire other people's things (covet), don't lie, don't steal, don't sleep around, don't murder, honor your parents, set aside one day a week to rest (keep the Sabbath). That sounds like a pretty good set of morals and values to me. The problem is when people cherry pick and try to use situational ethics. "Well, it's okay to lie, just this once. It's only a little lie..." In other words, the problem comes when people try to "develop their own set of ethics and morals."

  11. Yavor Says:

    Jamie-

Interesting. Actually, I have to agree. We dis-cover the existing laws of nature. We codify and symbolize -through our language- the way thing work.

Weather the "laws of relations" (or shall we say the way humans can successfully live) are also immutable, I'd have to ponder that one.

Even as a charismatic atheist, I find that the 10 commandments are legitimate. I happen to agree with most all of them - because they seem to make sense. The only part I have trouble with is believing that all the other prophets are not legitimate. Therefore I believe in one less prophet than Christians do. I also developed my own set of morals and ethics, due to my Christian upbringing and my observation of how human relations work best.

I'm very happy that Jesus was a sandal wearing, long-haired, passifist, (wine drinking) Jewish revolutionary - and not some Ayn Rand type. Some current Christians have more in common with Ayn Rand than Jesus it seems. "Prosperity Theology" folks are one of those types.

I also just wonder, why do people feel it necessary to build giant institutions around their understanding of these relational rules, and then try to convert or destroy the competing beliefs? And, if we do have cognitive self-awareness, why not use it? Even if some hippie-looking all-powerful superhero gave this to us, wouldn't he want us to use it to it's fullest? Wouldn't he forgive us our trespasses if we decided to ignore him? It would be awful egocentric of him to blame us for the results of what he alone created.
I guess he might disavow responsibility for his creation's actions (by judging them in the end), just as his creations abrogate responsibility for their own actions by believing in their creator. (because they are forgiven for any sin just by asking) What a great system! It's like Catch 23. No wonder people love it. It bollixes the mind.

Anyhow Jamie, thanks for your rational and respectful response.

very good and true piece. those evil men need to be dealt with for the security of our nation.

  13. Michael Says:

Gabe - thanks for stopping by and I agree 100%. The question is if the US has the balls to step up to the plate and take care of business.

  14. Yavor Says:

    Gabe and Michael-

    Lets tell a little story.

    Here are the characters:

    Big Ole' Dog: USA
    Young Dog Alpha: China
    Young Dog Beta: Russia
    Hyenas: Venezuela etc.

Well, you see, the Big Ole' dog had run the whole neighborhood for as long as anyone cared to remember. He was a good natured old fella, but he would deal out harsh punishment as easily as anyone if folks needed reminding who was numero uno. A good while back, Big Ole' dog had gotten fond of Liver pie and the best liver pie was plentiful, but it was mostly to be found over the next hill near where the Hyenas lived. Big ole' dog had used up most of the liver pie in his own yard and had for a long time had a nice agreement with the Hyenas whereby they brought big ole' dog all the liver pie he could eat -in exchange for letting them have access to the dog chow his master put out for him.

Now this went on for years. During this time, new puppies were born in the neighborhood and were growing up fast. They knew the big ole' dog was good natured and well fed. Soon though, the two oldest (and several of the ones just a bit younger) noticed that the big ole' dog was getting pudgy and less able to frighten everyone. At the same time, they were getting bigger and realized they too loved liver pie. They wondered if they would ever get the liver pie they desired.

It was about at this time that the Hyenas grew sick and tired of serving liver pie to the big ole' dog. They realized that the big ole' dog now couldn't eat anything but liver pie. As well, soon the younger dogs would be full-sized and want liver pie too.

It became obvious that the Hyenas were more powerful than they thought, because they fed all the food that big ole' dog ate - to him. The Hyenas became sick of being barked at when they were late with the liver pies.
Big ole' dog sometimes would come over the hill and kill a few Hyenas to scare them.

Recently, they had taken to biting at the ankles of big ole' dog because he was always tired from chasing cars and couldn't bite them back. All he did was bark louder. He did grow angry and killed several Hyenas. This only made the Hyenas madder.

Watching silently from the sidelines, younger dogs alpha and beta just sat and licked their lips as big ole' dog spent more and more of his time fighting off the nipping Hyenas. He couldn't kill them because he had grown too tired to find food himself and he now had to borrow dog food from his old friends to give to the Hyenas. Bark and swat as he may, big ole' dog just wore himself down. He was between a rock and a hard place, and he had put himself there.
Alpha and Beta knew that it was only a matter of time. They were growing stronger each day and big ole' dog was getting weaker. They could smell it.
They didn't have to do anything to big ole' dog. He had put himself in a no-win situation. All they had to do was wait. It was a pitiful site. The once proud dog was being mocked and bitten by the lowly Hyenas - and he couldn't do anything -because they still brought him his liver pie.

Soon, Alpha approached the leader of the Hyenas and proposed the following: If they would stop bringing Liver pie to big ole' dog, Alpha and Beta would take all the liver pie they could bring and give them twice the dog chow. As well, big ole' dog would die because he had become too fat and lethargic to get food for himself. The Hyenas would loose their old task master and gain twice as much dog chow. It was a no-brainer.

Well, you might imagine this is exactly what happened. You are right, except for one thing. Upon hearing of the new arrangement between the younger dogs and the Hyenas, Big ole' dog went on a rampage and killed a quarter of the Hyenas. He got pretty torn up doing this and on his way home, Alpha and Beta decided to attack him and finish the job. It was quick and bloody. As big ole' dog lay looking up at the clouds for the last time, he remembered his glory days -eating all the liver pie he wanted-and he remembered the laughing of the Hyenas. That was the last thought he ever had...........

  15. Michael Says:

Yavor - clever story. So, which character represents Yavor in Cleveland?

  16. Yavor Says:

    Michael-

Yavor is Big ole' dog's brother.

He had talked to Big ole' dog several times about his predicament. "Why don't you just eat things from your own yard" said Yavor. "I don't believe that those things would sustain me- and you are a fool for suggesting them Yavor". "Only idiots eat those kinds of things".

Thing was, Yavor had eaten out of his own yard for years and because Liver Pie was so rich and fatty, Yavor was in much better shape than Big ole' dog. He also didn't have to trade with the Hyenas regularly. Sure, Yavor bought some Liver pie too, but just a little. It was delicious!

More and more dogs saw that growing your own food was healthier and safer.
If the Hyenas were going to start selling to the Younger dogs anyway, it made good sense to start getting your food from your own yard.

Good Ole' dog had past away and the dynamics of the neighborhood had certainly shifted. Even though Yavor was nearly the same age ad Big ole' dog, the young, strong and growing dogs didn't bother him because he wasn't to be seen around the Hyenas - where they spent so much of their time. Yavor lived a long and happy life - watching the younger dogs ascend to control the whole neighborhood. He rested contently and watched the whole drama of life unfold in front of him- safe in the knowledge that he would always have something to eat..and that the Younger dogs would probably fall in the same trap that Big ole' dog had.

    End of Story.

    Yavor
