Liberal Talk Radio, Please Go Away

June 25th, 2007

So we all heard about the conversation last week between Clinton and Boxer discussing a ‘legislative fix’ in order to influence conservative talk radio.  Could it be that they are just frustrated at the failures of Air America and their left leaning insanity? I don’t know but it sounds like censorship to me! Nonetheless, it’s apparent to me that liberal radio just doesn’t resonate well with the American people, except those of course who belong to the cult of Cindy Sheehan and friends.

Here are ten reasons why I think liberal talk radio is failing and should go away:

  • The radio hosts lack passion; plain and simple
  • They lack reason and base their commentary on emotion; which is the problem with most liberals who try and argue a point
  • Most of the talk show hosts are boring and lack personality
  • Their arguments lack substance; calling Bush names and criticizing his policies gets old after the first hour
  • They have about 20 listeners; therefore, they have no advertisers. It would make good business sense to close up shop
  • Their website is amateur and doesnt even work right (no pun)
  • Their lineup is horrible.  With the exception of Chuck D who I admire as a rapper but not as radio talk show host, they are all no-name comedians. I mean…who in the hell is Jon Elliot, Randi Rhodes and the Young Turks?
  • They lack humor. Most of them are supposed to be comedians, yet I find nothing they say to be humorous.
  • They claim to be patriotic, yet bash everything America stands for
  • They just don’t connect with the American people. Of course, they do have a significant following of about 20, but it’s nothing compared the entire US population.

Feel free to add any other reasons I may have missed.

Peace.

Bush criticisms got old 4 years ago. I disagree about Chuck D -he's a lousy rapper as well.

  2. Melodie Says:

lol..I am no conservative but this is definitely true. Liberal talk radio hosts really suck.

  3. Urban Conservative Says:

Jemm - ahh come on. Chuck D is Public Enemy NUmber One...Don't believe the hype it's a sequel..as an equal can I get this through to you.....lol. That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

    THanks for coming by.

  4. Ben Says:

liberal radio is much better that neocon radio....this blog is a joke.

  5. Conservative Cat Says:

Ben - dude...can you elaborate on your competely idiotic comment?

  6. Gravee Says:

Let me address your ten reasons (if you can call them that).

The radio hosts lack passion; plain and simple
I'm not sure what you mean by this... Lack passion? What, do you mean they're not high on prescription drugs they don't have prescriptions for?

They lack reason and base their commentary on emotion; which is the problem with most liberals who try and argue a point
It seems like THIS commentary is based on emotion, making this a hypocritical statement; which is the problem with most conservatives who try and argue a point.

Most of the talk show hosts are boring and lack personality
What do you consider personality? Constantly interrupting guests who disagree and call them a Nazi?

Their arguments lack substance; calling Bush names and criticizing his policies gets old after the first hour
Oh, please! Like Rush hasn't done this with Clinton for the past 14 years.

They have about 20 listeners; therefore, they have no advertisers. It would make good business sense to close up shop
So, by that rationale, Fox News should close up shop as well, because no respectable human being would watch it. Besides, no advertisers? That's attractive to a listener.

Their website is amateur and doesn’t even work right (no pun)
That's because the Bush administration isn't paying the liberal bloggers and radio hosts.

Their lineup is horrible. With the exception of Chuck D who I admire as a rapper but not as radio talk show host, they are all no-name comedians. I mean…who in the hell is Jon Elliot, Randi Rhodes and the Young Turks?
It seems you know more about liberal radio show hosts than someone claiming to be a conservative should...

They lack humor. Most of them are supposed to be comedians, yet I find nothing they say to be humorous.
Of course you don't. If someone came in and started making jokes about my beliefs, I wouldn't find it funny either; even though they are wrong.

They claim to be patriotic, yet bash everything America stands for
Do you even have an example? How patriotic is hypocracy? How patriotic of you. You're right, because America stands for biggotry, murder, theivery, racism and sexism, the liberal talk show hosts bash it all...

They just don’t connect with the American people. Of course, they do have a significant following of about 20, but it’s nothing compared the entire US population.
Clearly the majority of the country is connected to the liberal side. Look at the population of congress, look at Bush's approval ratings. Even if their following was only about 20, then why would you feel so threatened to write an emotionally charged blog about how they should go away?

Let me address your ten reasons (if you can call them that).
Thank you for addressing my reasons. Now, let me address your rebuttals (if you can call them that).

The radio hosts lack passion; plain and simple
I'm not sure what you mean by this... Lack passion? What, do you mean they're not high on prescription drugs they don't have prescriptions for?

I am not sure how much more I have to elaborate here. It’s quite simple. Liberal talk radio hosts don’t stand for anything. They are not passionate. All they do is bitch and complain and never present any valuable solutions to the problems they complain about; except for impeaching Bush. That's their (your) solution for everything. Keep in mind this is all based on my personal experience.

They lack reason and base their commentary on emotion; which is the problem with most liberals who try and argue a point
It seems like THIS commentary is based on emotion, making this a hypocritical statement; which is the problem with most conservatives who try and argue a point.
I don’t want to get into name calling here so I’ll skip this one.

Most of the talk show hosts are boring and lack personality
What do you consider personality? Constantly interrupting guests who disagree and call them a Nazi?
Personality = funny, entertaining; and yes, Savage is very entertaining and I love it when he interrupts people. It’s my opinion.

Their arguments lack substance; calling Bush names and criticizing his policies gets old after the first hour
Oh, please! Like Rush hasn't done this with Clinton for the past 14 years.
Good point. I have to agree with you there.

They have about 20 listeners; therefore, they have no advertisers. It would make good business sense to close up shop
So, by that rationale, Fox News should close up shop as well, because no respectable human being would watch it. Besides, no advertisers? That's attractive to a listener.
Fox news has much higher ratings and viewer ship than all the other cable news networks so what’s your point? Whether you like it or not, they do have an audience. I watch Fox and I consider myself respectable; my wife watches and it and she is much more respectable than me…so??

Their website is amateur and doesn’t even work right (no pun)
That's because the Bush administration isn't paying the liberal bloggers and radio hosts.
Oh yeah sure…but they are being paid by people like George Soros and Moveon.org.

Yes indeed....i don’t write about a particular topic without performing some sense of research. Don't you?

They lack humor. Most of them are supposed to be comedians, yet I find nothing they say to be humorous.
Of course you don't. If someone came in and started making jokes about my beliefs, I wouldn't find it funny either; even though they are wrong.
I actually wouldn’t mind if it is indeed funny. The difference between me and you is that I don’t get offended easily; now if you talk about my mom…those are fightin’ words.

They claim to be patriotic, yet bash everything America stands for
Do you even have an example? How patriotic is hypocracy? How patriotic of you. You're right, because America stands for biggotry, murder, theivery, racism and sexism, the liberal talk show hosts bash it all...
I have a ton of example…read a couple of my blog postings…I talk about this all the time. I am very patriotic and have done much more for this country than you will ever do. If you feel America stands for this…then get the HELL out of here.

Yeah sure..maybe the libs in San Francisco and New York…but not the majority. Oh, and the article is about liberal talk radio not liberals in general. If all the liberals went away, I wouldn’t have nothing to write about.

    I can.

My solution is not impeaching Bush. Anyone who knows anything about the process knows that's a retarded idea. We should focus on real issues like stem cell research; impeaching the President for getting caught at things every president in history has done is ridiculous. So anyway, the person one disagrees with lacks passion and is merely bitching and complaining simply because they have a different view on the world; did I get that right? The (your) problem is, if you'd listen them talk once or twice you might actually hear their ideas. But the Greedy-Old-People are too stubborn and set in their ways to have an open mind about anything other than Nascar and cutting $14.4 billion out of the veteran's budget. Keep in mind this is just based on my personal experience.

They lack reason and base their commentary on emotion; which is the problem with most liberals who try and argue a point

Wait... did you say they're commentary is based on emotion? Then how can they lack passion? www.dictionary.com, check it out.

Most of the talk show hosts are boring and lack personality
What do you consider personality? Constantly interrupting guests who disagree and call them a Nazi?
Personality = funny, entertaining; and yes, Savage is very entertaining and I love it when he interrupts people. It’s my opinion.
Savage is okay as long as it's not criticism of the Bush administration... right? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion... except liberals, apparently.

Their arguments lack substance; calling Bush names and criticizing his policies gets old after the first hour
Oh, please! Like Rush hasn't done this with Clinton for the past 14 years.

:) Again, though, I say it's all fair game

They have about 20 listeners; therefore, they have no advertisers. It would make good business sense to close up shop

Higher ratings and viewership than ALL other cable news networks?? Source, please. Besides, if they closed up shop, what would you listen to?

Their website is amateur and doesn’t even work right (no pun)
That's because the Bush administration isn't paying the liberal bloggers and radio hosts.
Oh yeah sure…but they are being paid by people like George Soros and Moveon.org.
I'm not. Also, whose website? Are you sure your problem doesn't exist between your keyboard and your chair?

Their lineup is horrible. With the exception of Chuck D who I admire as a rapper but not as radio talk show host, they are all no-name comedians. I mean…who in the hell is Jon Elliot, Randi Rhodes and the Young Turks?
It seems you know more about liberal radio show hosts than someone claiming to be a conservative should...
Yes indeed....i don’t write about a particular topic without performing some sense of research. Don't you?
    Fair enough.

Republicans have some great racists, great sexists. Homophobes? A#1, absolute A#1; crazy, crazy homophobics. And look, I'm not saying all republicans are racist, sexist, homophobes; just the people they choose to elect into office to represent them are. The people who push the buttons, you know, they just want their $300 check. They just want their Sharper Image gift certificate. "The democrats wanna take away yer Sharper Image gift certificate. You was gonna get one a them foot massagers... Oooh, wouldn't a foot massage sound good right about now? Democrats wanna take that away." - David Cross. Funny?

They claim to be patriotic, yet bash everything America stands for
Do you even have an example? How patriotic is hypocracy? How patriotic of you. You're right, because America stands for biggotry, murder, theivery, racism and sexism, the liberal talk show hosts bash it all...

Obviously you missed the WHOLE point, but I expect nothing different from a bull-headed nazi (I'm being savage, eh?!). I'll rephrase it so that your simple mind can get around it: They bash everything America stands for? This can only be true if they bash biggotry, murder, theivery, racism and sexism. Because they're not bashing freedom of speech. You see them walking on your freedom to be a white christian fundamentalist? They're bashing lies and the lying liars who tell them. If you feel that they're bashing what America stands for, then you think America stands for imperialism, facism, lying, and murder for oil.

You've done more for this country than I have? What happened to doing research before you write? How many years have you served (and I don't mean french fries at McDonald's)? Are you a member of the VFW? Are you even eligible to be a USAA member? Don't even bother answering those questions.

Seems like someone (you) needs to brush up on how Congress works... Just so you know, the whole country elects representatives into congress, not just San Francisco and New York. Clearly you are in a river in Africa (denial) if you think that the majority of the country approves of the Bush administration's handling of the war in Iraq. Even republicans in congress are criticizing Bush because they know that there's no way for them to be reelected following bush. They're like rats leaving a sinking ship.

Personally, I'd be happy if all talk radio went away and the airwaves were filled solely with music.

  10. Gravee Says:

I think it's fair to say that republicans, on a whole, typically only watch Fox news while the liberals watch everything else. However, that leaves the rest of the country watching "the liberal media," i.e. CNN, MSNBC, HLN, and CNBC. On your first source, as of 8/3/07 FSN had 879,000 viewers; however that left CNN, MSNBC, HLN and CNBC with a total of 1,322,000 viewers. That means that over 50% more people don't watch FNC over other news channels. If there were three alternate conservative news stations, they would share viewers with FNC so I'm sure you'd see their ratings and viewership numbers drop.

  11. Urban Conservative Says:

Gravee – that is flawed logic. That’s like saying – okay 100 people drive Mercedes and 400 people drive Fords, Toyotas and Hondas so over 300% more people drive the latter. Oh, and it’s been proven that NBC, ABC and CBS (while they might not necessarily be the Liberal Media) has produced and aired more liberal slanted commentary on their programs. There are several studies that support this. I will try and find the sources and post them.

  12. Gravee Says:

It's not flawed logic. When you say that more people watch FNC than ALL other news channels, it's only fair to compare its numbers to ALL others. By saying that, you are saying that FNC has at least 50% of the viewership pie, leaving other stations to fend for scraps. That's why I called shenanigans.

I agree with the fact that those stations have more liberal commentary. I'm not saying they don't; but the term "liberal media" makes me laugh. I think that there is this polar shift in the media where it opposes whatever the political majority is. However, liberal talk radio will always be liberal. And you'll always be a fan of Bush... unless he gets caught having an affair. Then he's really in trouble.

  13. Urban Conservative Says:

lol Gravee...show me where on this blog that I claim to be a fan of Bush. I do support the man as the leader of this country....

Do I agree with all his policies? no.

  14. Gravee Says:

Yeah... I was going to say "you'll always be conservative" but it just didn't look right... HA!
