One reason to vote for John McCain: If he wins, Susan Sarandon will go away

May 30th, 2008 Urban Conservative

Well, I have several reasons but I will get into that in a later post. The first and most important reason why I am going to vote for John McCain is that if he wins the election, Susan Sarandon will go away and move to either Italy or Canada.  That alone is a sufficient reason to vote for a Republican this coming election. But wait, didn’t Alec Baldwin make a similar promise back in 2004?  I am still waiting for him to go. Hot Air sums it up quite perfectly about Susan’s tolerance level:

She’s been a trooper up ’til now — 36 years of her life lived under Republican presidents and still, somehow, she hasn’t left yet. How does she stand it?

Five Reasons Not to Vote for Obama

May 27th, 2008 Urban Conservative

Traditionally, the presidential election is a time to select a candidate, to vote for someone. The 2008 election will prove to be a different sort of election, however: one wherein a conservative’s focus might not necessarily be who to vote for, but who to vote against. Barack Obama is a dangerous political opponent for John McCain. This isn’t necessarily because he poses a strong threat as a candidate, but because his following’s loyalty borders on fanatic obsession. John McCain might not be your ideal Republican candidate, but he deserves your vote precisely for who he isn’t: Barack Obama. What follows are the five reasons I’m voting for John McCain and against Barack Obama.

Reason #1

If Barack Obama is defined by the company he keeps, he’s a racist, anti-American extremist. From Jeremiah Wright to William Ayers to Bernadine Dohrn, just enough of Obama’s skeletons have come out of the closet and endorsed him to cast a cloud of danger over his electability as the president of the United States. Indeed, much of Obama’s primary campaign has been fraught with various allies from Obama’s past and present dancing into the media spotlight. Then, after a fair amount of unsavory press, Obama apologizes for and separates himself from the same friends he aligned himself with mere months earlier. We need only consider Obama’s remarks about Reverend Jeremiah Wright as his mentor, then the exposure of Trinity United Church and Obama’s subsequent denouncement of Wright’s anti-American speech to recall the pattern. Known terrorists, both domestic and international, endorse Barack as their man. Young Palestinian men lobby on his behalf in earnest. They do this because Obama in office serves their own interests.

Reason #2

Obama’s patriotism is questionable. In an election, we naturally compare one candidate to another. One candidate doesn’t wear a flag pin. One candidate doesn’t hold his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. One candidate has no military experience. One candidate’s idea of foreign policy is to negotiate with enemies who wish to obliterate our existence over a cup of coffee. The role of the president should be filled by someone who loves our country, who values our history, and who has proven that he is ready to die to serve our country. The role of the First Lady should similarly be filled by someone who honors and respects the country her husband serves. It doesn’t count when your patriotism begins just as your husband enters the presidential campaign. If Obama’s friends don’t derail his campaign, his own wife and life partner surely will.

Reason #3

Obama is a skilled orator, a trait that has earned him a devout following in a party largely comprised of atheists. When Barack Obama opens his mouth to speak, liberals’ ears seem to filter out the message and listen only to the words in a hypnotic trance. Their devotion to Obama mimics that of radical Christians to Jesus Christ. Criticize Obama to a liberal Obama supporter, and it’s as if you’ve questioned the existence of God, only the resulting argument is much angrier and holds far less intellectual merit. It’s more like telling an environmentalist that chaining himself to a tree won’t save the earth, or informing a war protester that no one in Washington cares what he or she thinks. It isn’t Obama’s following that is of the most concern, however. A public speaker as smooth as Obama will inspire fans on his own talents. Let’s remember, however, that Barack Obama was a lawyer before he became a senator. And, like most lawyers, his words are best when rehearsed.

However, Obama crumbles under pressure, and his improvised remarks typically fall flat or offend. We need only recall the fallout from the “bitter small-town Americans”, “typical white person” and “Can’t I just eat my waffle?” to recall Obama’s propensity to fumble the ball when he’s running an unscripted play with nary a playbook in sight. It’s one thing to offend foreign, enemy nations during wartime; offending majority populations of the country you represent is another, especially as you align for their vote in November. Judging from the multitude of politically incorrect missteps in his primary campaign, Obama seems to think that he doesn’t need votes from entire segments of the population; namely, the middle of the country. This blatantly blase attitude must cost him the election to teach Democrats that conservative minds will not be discounted.

Reason #4

Obama’s politics and ideals are too far skewed on the liberal end of the political scale to strike a balance with Americans as a whole. No matter the political affiliation of a sitting president, his job is to appease the majority of his constituents, the American public. Radical liberals cla

China Earthquake: Please consider donating to the Red Cross Fund

May 20th, 2008 Urban Conservative

C’mon people; let’s put our money where our mouth is and donate to the China Earthquake Relief Fund.  For a community that already doesn’t have a lot, they lost everything. It’s the least we can do.

On May 12, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Sichuan province in southwestern China, killing thousands of people. The American Red Cross is working with its partners in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including the Red Cross Society of China, and other partners to assist those affected by this disaster. Donate here.

See China Earthquake Photos below (maybe these will inspire you to give):

China Quake

Bodies are seen after they were pulled from the rubble of a collapsed building in Dujiangyan, in China’s southwest Sichuan province Wednesday May. 14, 2008. The official death toll from Monday’s earthquake reached almost 15,000 Wednesday, with many thousands more missing.

Obama’s “57 states” remark not a big deal

May 13th, 2008 Urban Conservative

… but what if it was Bush who said it?  Wouldn’t the media and the late night talk shows crucify him for it? What if it was McCain?  Wouldn’t the media blame his old age for inaccurate statements? So, tell me why Obama gets a free pass for this?  I am not going to fault the guy for misspeaking. He’s been on the campaign trail for over a year; and these candidates work up to 20 hours a day.  He’s fatigued, tired and obviously doesn’t get enough sleep!  This is a clear example of liberal media bias, period.

The clip is actually pretty funny though. Take a peep.

Stephen King sounding a lot like John Kerry: what a chump!

May 9th, 2008 Urban Conservative

He said: I don’t want to sound like an ad, a public service ad on TV, but the fact is if you can read, you can walk into a job later on. If you don’t, then you’ve got, the Army, Iraq, I don’t know, something like that. It’s, it’s not as bright. So, that’s my little commercial for that.?

It’s a week old but I have to chime in.  As a Marine, I am extremely offended.  I know he was talking about the Army, but hey, they’re my brothers too. Yeah, I was just out of high school when I enlisted but I served with some really smart people, officers and enlisted. But it was the Military that paid for my entire undergrad degree.  And, his comments just display the ongoing ignorance of the liberals in Hollywood. And even if he isn’t in Hollywood, he is still a lib. They have so much money and spend so much time living in their fantasy worlds, that it makes them so out of touch with reality. Poor liberal scum is all I have to say right about now.  He is trying to defend his comments.  Pssst.

The Urban Conservative Smear Campaign, well not really

May 9th, 2008 Urban Conservative

And this time, it’s coming from someone on the right. Now, I have done some pretty rotten things in my life. Things I am not so proud of and many of which I choose to forget. But this … this accusation is completely wrong and I feel like I need to defend myself. I know, I know … another post about my feelings. What the heck is going on with me?  I promise a thought provoking-liberal bashing post coming really soon.

Now, I created the Best Conservative Blogs directory about 6 months ago; and began to populate the directory with blogs that I read, subscribe to or just stumbled on.  Some have also asked to be on the list. This directory became very popular and was picked up by Wikipedia, podcasts and several other blogs. I try and add it once or twice a month.  At the same time, I have solicited reciprocal links from a few other conservative blogs and/or websites, Bruce Kelley being one of them.  My mistake with Bruce and a few others was that I did not let him know that the directory uses “no follow? tags.  So, here it is … I use no-follow tags in the directory, not on the blogroll or in blog posts.  And now he is on this quest to smear this blog and at the same time setting himself up on a pedestal because he has been a “webmaster for 10 years? and “knows Google’s requirements for linking?.  Whatever.

I am sad to say that we live in a SICK SICK world

May 5th, 2008 Urban Conservative

The following post is a rant. It has nothing to with politics but I feel like I need to let off some steam, vent a little and talk about my feelings (yes, I do have feelings).  Right now, I am really sick of all the “Obama & Hillary? news and ALL political news for that matter, so lately I have been doing my best to filter it all out.  I was on Drudge earlier today and came across a story of about 3 dead infants found in freezer in Germany.  I was stunned. It broke my heart. I felt vulnerable because it was personal to me.  I can’t even imagine ever hurting a single hair on my two beautiful angels; and to think that someone did this to these poor innocent babies hurts me, tremendously.  It sickens me and makes me want to vomit.  And, then it got me thinking of the poor woman in Austria and the pain that her and her children endured.  This story clearly exemplifies the depths of evil that humanity is capable of committing.

It’s a true story about a psychopath named Josef Fritzl. This sad excuse for a human sexually abused, tortured, raped and physically assaulted his own daughter for 24 years.  According to the police, he kept her for in a small soundproofed cellar with four beds and a bathroom; and she gave birth to a total of seven children (including twins, one of whom died) all of whom had been fathered by this bastard.  Three of his kids had been imprisoned with their mother their whole lives when they were found—daughter Kerstin and sons Stefan and Felix, who are aged 19, 18, and 5.

Obama & Wright: It’s No Longer Cool to Hang With Racists?

May 4th, 2008 Billy Hallowell

Obama denouces wrightI know that I’m a bit late on this, but I can’t resist commenting. Barack Obama has [finally] separated himself from his former father figure-pastor-confidant-spiritual advisor. In a speech that came approximately two months later than it should have, Obama called Reverend Wright’s media hoopla nothing more than a series of incomprehensible rants. If elected, let’s hope he’s quicker when it comes to addressing national security issues. Considering his vast political experience (cough, cough), I’m sure we have nothing to worry about. After all, Obama’s got more than enough hope and change to go around, right?

If Obama’s recent denunciation isn’t a sure-fire decree that his leadership skills need tailoring, I don’t know what is. Only now, when Obama’s numbers are slipping, has he decided to step forward against his bigoted former pastor. Not only do I find it reprehensible that Obama waited to long to disavow his mentor’s words, but it’s also laughably ironic. His supporters will say one of two things – either “Reverend Wright was right (no pun intended)? or “Obama is finally doing the right thing.? Both statements are shamefully incorrect.
