Thank God I do not live in New York!

December 17th, 2008 Urban Conservative

Well, it’s probably just as bad as living here in San Francisco – surrounded by liberal ideology and insanity and all but whatever.  Just today, Governor David Paterson proposed a $121 billion budget that affects New Yorkers with their iPods and nickels-and-dimes them to death.

Trying to close a $15.4 billion budget gap, Paterson called for 88 new fees and a host of other taxes, including an iPod tax that taxes the sale of downloaded music and other digitally delivered entertainment services. Other taxable items include movie tickets, taxi rides, soda, beer, wine, cigars, massages, cable and satellite TV services and also removes the tax exemption for clothing costing less than $110.

Perhaps he should consider a tax for those who commit adultery too.  Im just sayin.

Yes, but we have our own problems here in California with our so-called "Republican" governor, Benedict Arnold cohorting with the Democrats to do a lot of the same thing. Good luck with that!

YOUR VIEW IS SOMEWHAT DISTORTED...PERHAPS YOU ARE UNAWARE OF THE FOLLOWING REALITIES IN NEW YORK:

    1. AN AIR TAX: TO BE IMPLEMENTED JAN.1, 2009. ASTHMATICS AND THOSE WITH COPD, EMPHYSEMA AND OTHER BREATHING DISORDERS WILL BE EXEMPT. MARATHON RUNNERS WILL PAY AN ADDITIONAL SURCHARGE.

    2. CHANGES TO NYS CRIMINAL CODE: ALL LAWMAKERS WILL BE EXEMPT FROM PROSECUTION OF ANY KIND. AL SHARPTON AND ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH AL SHARPTON WILL BE BEHEADED.

    3. CIGARETTE TAX: A 368% INCREASE WILL TAKE EFFECT ON FEB. 1, 2009. CIGARETTES WILL COST $35.00 PER PACK.

San Francisco smells more like marijuana and hippies than New York does.

Either way, theyre both on my "Places I Could Never Revisit And Not Care".

Wheres Patersons "Tap A Kennedy" tax?
  • Jay
Hey Gov. Patterson.... Get rid of the taxes before all the residents of your state leave!!!

San Fransico and New York are both horrible places to live.  I hope I never have to be unfortunate enough to have to raise my kids their, I would hope to raise them in a conservative atmosphere where hard work is everything, not relying on those who do work hard (Liberals call them the "rich").  Also whats up with the San Fransico people being so unpatriotic toward our military (you know the people risking their lives so you can be free and a have a good standard of living).  That pisses me off!  These people die for us and you people in San Fransico make me sick when you disgrace them.  I love capitalism and the U.S. military.  You hippies just wanna live off of those who work hard and received educations and are getting well paying jobs because of it.  Im glad I dont live in San Fransico and have to put up with high, taxes, fruits and nuts up there.  I thank God every day!  Oh wait you people banned God only atheism can exist up there I forgot.  Well maybe atheism is true because its obvious their evolving from monkeys.

I tend to shy away from BowTox Nancys Home Town of San Fran, but in regards to NY, I can tell you that its a wonderful place to live, that is if you take away the property, school, and MTA.

Perfectly said brother (to the comment above) Just try to ignore those San Fransico its (I call them its because half of them are in between genders) Their in their own little world sure they benefit off of you and me and all the others who work and have well paying jobs but you just have to accept it, America is sadly getting more socialist

    from Joe:
"San Fransico and New York are both horrible places to live.  I hope I never have to be unfortunate enough to have to raise my kids their"

    from Robert:
"Their in their own little world ..."

You see, its like this-  Its pretty difficult to take anything these two have to say when they cannot even understand the difference and usage of the words "there, their, and theyre".
The "San Fransico" might have been an attempt at San Francisco or
"San Fransicko"... thats hard to say- but in light of the other non-learned attempts to pontificate, I rather suspect stupidity is the base here.
Congratulations, UC,  you certainly do attract the cream of your crop.

Living as an urban conservative in San Francisco is like living as a duck in Duck Hunt except the people behind the "gun" are blind and questionably equipped with basic social skills. So I just get to flutter around and hope not to get hit with the errant liberal pop-offs that occur every now and then.

It is the conservative mentality that places like San Francisco and New York are "lost to the party" that has helped erode our chances for success in elections and exactly why the party needs brave folks like you and I who put up with the insanity out here in Bizarro World.

San Francisco may be out of its damn mind but a constituent is a constituent.

As for NY taxes, I guarantee you OMGObama, taking his cue from the Federal Reserve, will attempt to monetize everything he can. F&^% it, lets tax air. Oh wait, theyre already calling for a carbon tax! Silly me!

Instead of taxing us to death, lets try not consuming so much and cutting the Federal Reserve debt machine off at the neck eh? Hows THAT for a revolutionary solution?!

Dora - did your freshman English teacher make fun of you in front of the whole class and destroy your high school experience? I really dont think misplacing your "theres" is as important as the real issues facing our country today.

Or are you just getting back at the "bullies" that called you a nerd, so you make fun of peoples grammar skills on the internet? Quite brave of you to be honest.

Why not add the MTA tax for those who live upstate, and never use the train. Or ask the NY Times why they had moved 25 Top Employees to Florida for a State Income Exemption.
