The Enemy Within

August 14th, 2009 Julie Spears

With the aggressive Obama White House pushing their Health Care Reform proposal on the American people, tensions on this hot-potato topic are elevated to levels we haven’t seen in this country for decades. With every passing sound bite, to every new town hall discussion, some elected official on the left is condemning citizens’ inherent right to voice opposition, or at the very least, to question a bill that these elected officials themselves are exempt from having to participate in.

Lets start with the pathetic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi herself. Have you ever seen a more disgusting, vile or ignorant excuse for a representative than this woman? This ingrate, who would give away our country to illegal immigrants, yet classify those who elected her, as “simply un-American”, because they have the nerve to question a bill that is being shoved down their throats, has no right representing a cockroach, let alone the fine people of her district. I guess those on the left would prefer if the American citizens just followed her and morons like her as though we were a bunch of lemmings, anxious to follow these geniuses trapped in idiots bodies, and hang on to every word they say as though it were gospel (oh, I guess that’s politically incorrect to mention that word!).

She, and others democrats having these town halls (e.g. Arlen Specter, D-Pa, et. al) have been downright indignant at the every-day Americans who have been showing up to have their voices heard, simply writing them off as part of an organized effort on the part of the right, thus dismissing the message they are sending to these elected officials. This is where the democrats are making a huge mistake. People do not like to be dismissed as though their opinions on life and death matters are of no consequence, or that they do not deserve to be taken seriously.

Moreover, the suggestion that these town halls are full of people which are part of an organized effort on the right, are laughable at best, and fabrications at worst. All you need to do is watch any one of the many reports to see which side is in fact, organized. Those who are truly grass roots, have home-made, rudimentary signs evoking their passions about this health care initiative, while those on the left, who are proponents of this effort, have professionally printed signs. So again, the efforts to get this agenda pushed through has lines that won’t be crossed.

Although not without precedent in our history, it has been many decades since the American people have been looked upon as enemies by the elected administration. Every day, some word comes from the Obama White House which suggests their mistrust of the people, and has resulted into nothing more than bullying, by forcing people into subservience by using scare tactics, which are sanctioned and espoused by this administration. From efforts to encourage neighbors to spy on each other by reporting anything “fishy” to the White House, to having people physically escorted out of town hall meetings because they are fearful for their lives and those of their families lives, shows the lengths the Obama White House will go to facilitate instituting their socialist agenda. The only thing fishy going on is emanating from within the closed door offices of the White House and Senate floor. This administration is rabid in it’s dislike of everyday

Americans, whose only crime is that of wanting to be an informed citizen. Seemingly, they will not rest until they have broken the spirit of every person in this country, and beat them into submission to go along with the systematic destruction of life as we know it.

Americans are Not Buying What Obama is Selling

August 14th, 2009 Ryan Christy

Barack Hussein Obama has been selling a ton of stuff: stimulus package, health care reform, getting the jobs back, etc. In this post, we’ll just mention ObamaCare. Now, President Obama has been on TV 24/7 ever since he was inaugurated; as a matter of fact since even before he was. More recently, he has been on TV multiple times a day talking about ObamaCare –his health care reform. Obama even had an infomercial on ABC selling it. Well, Americans are not buying it.

Rasmussen Reports wrote on July 28, “Americans are fairly evenly divided on the health care reform proposals working their way through Congress. However, most remain convinced the plans will raise costs and hurt the quality of the care they receive.”

Their latest nationwide phone survey found the following:

  • 41% strongly oppose ObamaCare
  • 25% strongly favor the plan
  • Just 23% believe passage of the reform legislation will lead to lower health care costs.
  • Most voters (53%) say it will lead to higher costs
  • 18% expect prices to remain about the same
  • 76% of Democrats favor the proposal and 76% of Republicans are opposed.
  • Among the unaffiliated, 35% are in favor and 60% are opposed.
  • Only 16% of unaffiliateds Strongly Favor the legislative effort while 47% Strongly Oppose it.
  • By 50% to 23% margin, voters expect that passage of the congressional health care reform bill will
  • cause the quality of care to go down.

Obama has been unable to sell this monstrosity to anybody, even though he’s backed by the majority of those in the media.

Obama talks about his health care reform 24/7, and has been consistent in saying how it’s going to “cut costs,” and yet he’s convinced only 23% of Americans that he is not lying. Only 23% believe what Obama is saying about his own plan. A lot of people, and the number continues to go up, are finding out what’s in the health care bill. They are actually reading what’s in the bill and know more about it than their elected officials do. And the more they find out about ObamaCare, the more they want to stay away from it.

Second Amendment Attacked by Liberal Media

August 11th, 2009 Aliy N

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
Second Amendment to the United States Constitution reads:

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

If this man bought his gun legally and this man has a carry permit and the police have checked his credentials, why is MSNBC picking on him!!!??

Could THIS be “fear mongering “ the very thing I and other bloggers have been accused of? You know the reason we’re being called racists, Nazis, Brown Shirts, Teabaggers, or Pelosi’s USA Today op-ed where she said “Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American” (you know because beating the face off the poor guy who opposes YOUR view totally IS American?)

What exactly would you call showing a guy who happens to be carrying a gun on TV for at LEAST 6 mintues talking about how “our 44th president will be coming any minute!!!”? I would say you’re taking the fear mongering to a new level.

You’re fighting for a “right” the constitution DOES NOT GIVE YOU. And in doing so, you’re trampling all over the RIGHTS the constitution DOES GIVE YOU!!!

President Obama took an oath to uphold the constitution of the United States of America and this is a breech of oath. Healthcare is not a right. Owning a gun IS. If you didn’t believe in the oath or the document you swore to uphold in that oath, I ask respectfully that you step down and let us find someone who will respect them.

Government Regulated Health Care: A huge mistake

August 5th, 2009 Calvin Lyman

It is sad that America has gone so far down the road of statism that our President and many of our Congressional leaders are attempting to pass a bill that will nationalize our health care. This is yet another step towards socialism! The bill, H.R. 3200, will cost over $1 trillion. H.R. 3200 is even more costly than the economic stimulus bill passed earlier this year!

Those of you who think that the stimulus bill was a good idea, don’t you think that we might be spending just a tad too much? Our national debt has climbed to 11 trillion, and the liberals in Congress haven’t done anything to stop it’s climb. Instead they spend their time and energy passing bills that take away power from the people and give it to the government, and spend so much money that we can’t hope to pay it off any time soon. It is our duty as Americans to make sure that they do not pass this bill. Winston Churchill was one of the great politicians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Churchill once said that whoever does not learn from history is destined to repeat it.

Throughout history, it ha been made clear that printing massive amounts of money to throw at all your problems temporarily solves problems, but in the end causes runaway inflation.. But the money being spent is not the most troubling aspect of this new bill. Everything about this new health care system would be regulated by the government. Government would also cut funding for Medicare and mandate “end life” counseling. This health care system would depend on a rationing mechanism, and this rationing would begin with the elderly.

No one should have the right to take away your right to life, even if you don’t have much longer to live. This bill is loaded with dangerous and unconstitutional items. Among these are included Government restriction of the enrollment of special needs people in Nationalized health care, as well as the exemption of individual taxes, purchasing mandates, and fines for non resident aliens, that are required of every legal, U.S. citizen.

This is simply outrageous.

A recent Rasmussen poll found that the majority of Americans oppose Obama’s plan for government-run health care. Yet these liberals continue to try to shove it down our throats. Certain Republicans who have the guts to fight back against this madness have proposed 31 amendments to H.R. 3200, all of which the Democrats have opposed. One would have allowed states to opt out, another would have prevented taxpayer-funded health benefits from going to illegal immigrants, yet another would have prevented bureaucrats from making personal medical decisions for patients. The list goes on and on. The fact that Democrats said no to all of these amendments makes their purpose clear: To take away more of our individual freedoms, and give it to themselves.

We as Americans must stop these bureaucrats from bringing this bill into effect. The consequences of anything less are dire. If your Senators and Representative have not announced plans to vote against this bill, please call or e-mail them and beg them to oppose it.

Obama the Hypocrite Gives the Reason Why He Rushes the Health Care Bill

August 3rd, 2009 Ryan Christy

Back in November 2004, Obama was on the radio, talking about the whole process of legislation with a lunatic kook fringe host, Randi Rhodes:

OBAMA: When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what’s in them and nobody’s read ‘em.

KOOK FRINGE HOST: Fourteen pounds, it was!

OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate, then these kinds of things happen, and I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean, you remember there was no real debate about that, it was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced — that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

That is almost five years ago, the whiner that is the man-child Barry Obama, complaining about the Bush administration rushing bills through Congress without giving members of the House time to even read the bills!

And just last week on Wednesday, Obama had this exchange in his press conference:

REPORTER: Why the rush? Are you worried that, if there’s a delay until the fall, the whole effort will collapse?

OBAMA: I’m rushed because I get letters every day from families that are being clobbered by health care costs and they ask me, “Can you help?” So I’ve got a middle-aged couple that will write me, and they say, “Our daughter just found out she’s got leukemia, and if I don’t, uh, do something soon, we just… Either going to go bankrupt or, we’re not going to be able to get our daughter the care,

So Rahm Emmanuel is ramming the bill through Congress, without giving them the time to read the bill, because Barack Obama is getting letters. But of course he only gets letters from the families in worst-case scenarios, and never from the ones who oppose. You see, nobody opposes the compassionate Barack Obama, other than the right-wing extremists (that’s what he wants you to perceive). Folks, the letters are 15-to-1 in opposition to ObamaCare over in Congress. Nevertheless, we gotta hurry get this bill passed, because he’s getting all these letters.

Tale From The Waiting Room: The truth about Universal Health Care

August 3rd, 2009 Aliy N

There are over 1,000 children waiting over 600 days for ear, nose and throat surgery in Warnbro, Australia alone!

The Canadian Medical Association Journal found that 50 people in Ontairo ALONE passed away while waiting on necessary surgery (not just cancer).

In 2000 the journal Clinical Oncology had an article about how more than 20% of operable cancer cases became inoperable in the amount of time they spent on the waiting list in England for the operation.

The times online (England) reported the following figures in April of 2009:

More than 43,000 operations were cancelled between January and September of 2008. that equates to over 1,800 people NOT being treated within 28 days of their original surgery date.

This is the kind of care Obama and Pelosi want for YOU.

And it’s not just surgery.

The Toronto Sun ran a story about Mark Degasperis, who mother spent 5 DAYS on a stretcher in a hallway of a hospital waiting for a bed

In March of 2009 Mirror.co.uk.news ran a story about a couple who lost a baby because the hospital didn’t have an anesthesiologist on duty to do a C-Section!

Mail Online in January of 2008 had a story about a boy who’s been deaf for 9 years suddenly regaining his hearing because the Q-tip that was in his ear fell out, NO DOCTOR EVER CAUGHT THE PROBLEM! That’s quality health care, don’t you want that kind of health care? Obama and Pelosi want that for YOU!

And a final point here:

We are being asked to put our trust in a government run system. Let me give you some examples of OTHER government run systems:

Social Security, isn’t that going to be BROKE in 15 or so years?

Medicare, wait, didn’t they ALREADY cut 13 MILLION and 60% of home health care nurses from THAT?
Disaster Relief: (fema) These are the jerks who had a truck full of water for the residents of New Orleans after Katrina show up in Bangor Maine!!! Yeah, I totally want THEM telling my doctor what an unnecessary test is!

It comes down to these programs are full of waste, incompetence and fraud!

Liberals will argue here that Obama says it’s NOT a single payer system, I give you the groups Rochester for HR676 and Progressive Democrats they are running around telling everyone that it IS a single payer system. I tend to think Rochester for HR676 knows something the president is lying to us about. (Given Obama’s comments going back as far as 2003, and Obama’s track record of lying to us….I tend to believe Rochester)

I can find 615 of the over 1,000 pages of this bill online. I’m going through it now and will report more on what is actually in the bill as I come to it.

Voter’s Survival Kit: Ten Things You Need to Know about Health Care

October 27th, 2008 Billy Hallowell

By Scott Bittle on October 23, 2022

Too often, trying to follow the presidential campaign debate is like coming in on the middle of a movie. You can get the gist of what’s going on, maybe, but you know that major plot points slipped past you – you know you could figure out who the murderer is, if you’d just been able to catch the first 15 minutes.

The basic reason is that the candidates, even when they talk about the issues, assume you already know the basics. The candidates figure they don’t have time to explain the background to you, and they figure it might bore you anyway, so they jump right into what their plan would do. That’s particularly unfair because the politicians themselves often are working off cheat sheets or talking points that give them the key points to make. Their staff has done the digging; the politician gets the bullet-point version.

Take health care, for example. The plans put forth by Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain are miles apart in ideological terms, and wickedly complicated in their details. But do the campaigns or the media spend much time stepping back and looking at what’s going on with the health care system, or why it needs fixing in the first place? Not really.

So here’s ten things you need to know about the state of the U.S. health care system. This is where we stand as a nation on this issue, and with these key facts in hand you can start to get your mind around the very complicated options the presidential candidates are putting out there. For a start:

Some 47 million Americans, 15.8% of the population, don’t have health insurance.

These are mainly people in jobs that don’t offer benefits: people between jobs, part-timers, the self-employed and lots of folks who work for small businesses. The number of uninsured may well go up over the next year because of the bad economy, as businesses lay off workers or cut back benefits.

The U.S. government spends nearly $700 billion each year on health care, mainly for Medicare (which covers nearly all older Americans), Medicaid (which helps cover those who are very poor) and care for veterans.

Meanwhile private health costs amount to about $1.1 trillion every year. About six in ten Americans get health insurance from their employer.

And just in case you hadn’t noticed, individuals shell out for health care too. It’s usually for deductibles, co-pays, premiums and drugs that aren’t covered by insurance. For an unfortunate group of Americans, it’s what they have to pay when they have a very serious illness or injury and their insurance basically runs out.

The U.S. health care system is incredibly complicated. Essentially, it’s not a ‘system’ at all – it’s a patchwork of private insurance and government programs like Medicare. There are holes in the system – and there’s duplication as well.

Health care costs have been rising faster than inflation for decades (they went up 6.7 percent in 2006). This will probably get worse. Government experts project health spending could double in 10 years

This presents a huge burden for business and it’s a budget-buster for the government, but frankly you’ll be on the line too. Business faced with spiraling health care costs sometimes cut benefits or raises or may even cut back their work force. Government needs to get the money from someone to cover health care costs. Guess who?

Most experts say expensive new treatments, procedures and drugs, along with an aging population are the major reason health care costs are shooting upward, but everyone also agrees that there’s a lot of inefficiency in the system too.

The plans of both presidential candidates are going to cost a lot of money. And given the staggering projections for the federal deficit over the next few years, money is going to be tight. So the government’s going to have to find a way to pay any reform plan.

How do we know this? Here are our sources:

Census Bureau, Health Insurance 2006; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Health Expenditures Data; Government Accountability Office, The Nation’s Long-Term Fiscal Outlook April 2008; Kaiser Family Foundation, Trends and Indicators in the Changing Health Care Marketplace; Tax Policy Center, Analysis of the Presidential Candidates’ Tax Plans,

Want to think over the options for actually fixing this problem? Have a look at Public Agenda’s Voter Survival Kit on health care, Your Money or Your Life, where we lay out different options, with potential costs and tradeoffs. And to check out the candidate plans in detail, visit the McCain and Obama web sites.

The Myth of the Uninsured American

July 31st, 2008 Conservative Cutie

When we hear the line “47 million Americans go without health insurance” the image that immediately comes to mind for most people is either a sick child or a working-class family caught in the trap of making too much money for Medicare but not enough to pay for insurance premiums.  This is an inaccurate picture.  To be sure, healthcare coverage is an important issues and needs to be addressed by the next president, but often info about the problem is spun in a misleading way.

According to the 2006 Census report on Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage, by far the largest population group to go without health insurance is young adults ages 18-34, making up about 2/5 of all those uninsured.  This group tends to be in good health, and generally does not stay uninsured for more than a couple of years at most.  This is most likely due to factors like since this group tends to be healthy they don’t feel they need to spend the money on insurance, or that they’re making the transition from high school and college into the work force, have not gotten a job with health care yet, and will not go uninsured for long.

Children living in poverty were the most likely group of children to be uninsured, which I find interesting since Medicare exists so that those living in poverty will not go without healthcare.  If you live below what is considered the “poverty line” and are a citizen of the US you should be eligible for Medicare, so perhaps their parents have not obtained coverage for them.  Since the State Children Health Insurance Program ( SCHIP) was made into law states are working on developing plans that cover every uninsured child in their state regardless of income (some states, like New York, even cover illegal immigrants under these plans).  The problem of uninsured children is being taken care of and soon there will be no more children that go without healthcare, even if the new president did absolutely nothing.  Neither candidate can really claim that they will save the uninsured child.  The only problem that will remain is making sure parents sign their children up for these programs.

Considering that 1/7th of the federal budget is spent on health care, health care is, indeed, expensive.  Most full time jobs (and even many part time jobs) offer employees some kind of access to healthcare.  It isn’t free, and it’s up to the employees to decide to opt-into these plans.  If the employee decides that healthcare is not a priority to them and they do not want to spend the money necessary to gain access to their employer’s plan it’s their personal decision and I’m not sure the government has any responsibility to convince them their health is worth spending money on to insure.  There’s nothing we can do to force people to have health insurance, short of making it illegal to go without, which neither candidate is suggesting.

“If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don’t have health insurance, you will have it after this plan becomes law. No one will be turned away because of a preexisting condition or illness.”

The biggest fallacy of the Obama healthcare plan is that it would cover every America.  It wouldn’t.  It would provide the option of health care, but it would still cost money and I suspect that lots of those uninsured adults between 18-34 would still rather spend the money on something else.  It wouldn’t do any more to insure children than is already being done independently of his plan.

At the end of the day it would be the individual’s choice to obtain coverage for themselves, and short of becoming a true socialist nation there is nothing America can do to make sure that happens.

I am sad to say that we live in a SICK SICK world

May 5th, 2008 Urban Conservative

The following post is a rant. It has nothing to with politics but I feel like I need to let off some steam, vent a little and talk about my feelings (yes, I do have feelings).  Right now, I am really sick of all the “Obama & Hillary? news and ALL political news for that matter, so lately I have been doing my best to filter it all out.  I was on Drudge earlier today and came across a story of about 3 dead infants found in freezer in Germany.  I was stunned. It broke my heart. I felt vulnerable because it was personal to me.  I can’t even imagine ever hurting a single hair on my two beautiful angels; and to think that someone did this to these poor innocent babies hurts me, tremendously.  It sickens me and makes me want to vomit.  And, then it got me thinking of the poor woman in Austria and the pain that her and her children endured.  This story clearly exemplifies the depths of evil that humanity is capable of committing.

It’s a true story about a psychopath named Josef Fritzl. This sad excuse for a human sexually abused, tortured, raped and physically assaulted his own daughter for 24 years.  According to the police, he kept her for in a small soundproofed cellar with four beds and a bathroom; and she gave birth to a total of seven children (including twins, one of whom died) all of whom had been fathered by this bastard.  Three of his kids had been imprisoned with their mother their whole lives when they were found—daughter Kerstin and sons Stefan and Felix, who are aged 19, 18, and 5.
